sorry.
NP here. I do not understand what Kentucky has to do with anything. With that said, My (jewish) DD (13 yo) was invited by a "friend" to a similar night. She pressured me to let me go. I told her if there is anything that makes you uncomfortable, call. Well, before the movie, they had the new kids stand up and tell something about them selfs, including there religion. After that my DD was repeatedly asked about accepting Jesus.

She is a strong kid, and endured.

She later found out the kids wee supposed to bring non-christians to the movie.
I was 10, but put in a camp cabin with 12 yo's. They made me perform oral sex on them. never told anyone until I was in my mid 20's talking to a counselor.

Why does system allow parents to do referral is because parents spend most of time with kids than anyone else. And it is possible that parents might have noticed some traits in their children which others might not have.

But in current system what is happening is all parents are observing that their children aregifted. Can it be really true or is it just that parents want to put their kids in AAP for bragging rights or not be shameful saying their kid is GE or for whatever reasons known to them.

If you notice IQ of all children here start with 130
I never heard/read in this forum with IQs like 110 ,100,107. Though 100 is supposed to be most common.

Actually, average in FCPS is above 100, probably. Using the SAT's as a poxy, the average score in FCPS is about 1 standard deviation above the national average, or probably about 115.

At the reason why you don't see lower IQ's here is because 1) people lie, and 2) AAP kids will not have sub 115 IQ's/.

Well, threads like this convince me that above 300K, we need 50% tax. I make a healthy income...can support my family confortably with DD in public school, and my small 1960's house in a good neighborhood.

What is fun is people like you that spend every penny they earn, and then find out at 55 that the firm no longer needs them.

Oh, and fwiw, my bonus went to medical expenses
I have coached in a league where score was not kept (coach pitch softball; 8U). There was no way to keep score with the rules, because every kid batted in every inning. That was the rule. The coal was to teach the girls how to play in a minimally competitive environment.

A could of times, I was asked who won by the girls. I would count the number of girls on each team, figure out how many out (i tracked that), and tell who scored more runs. But I would point out it was because of the number of girls.

In early sports, the goal is more to learn how to play as a team then to win. In younger kids sports, goals (soccer) and hits (baseball) is often luck -- good play facilitates the luck, but it is still luck. I wanted the girls to understand that playing well and cohesive put you in a position where luck matters.

My DD loved the Warriors Series when she was 8-10; also Harry Potter.

I just turned fifty. Got my typical b-day gift from my spouse. For a soon to be cancled party, I said no gifts, but if you do, get me something to make me laugh.

But, the county is claiming that all honors is comparable to AAP. So, it is comparable. It is a good question, non the less. I would argue if a kid was Level IV in the 6th grade, and takes all honors at a non-aap middle school, then that may be AAP. In reality, the only school with a significant number of those will be Thoreau
