Old ATS (now Escuela Key) is much nicer inside than new ATS (former McKinley). Much larger, brighter rooms. Lot of space. It is what is it, I guess.
I heard that they Key teachers and staff were delighted after they took a tour of their new building. |
Agreed. So grateful to be out. |
We are also out. Best decision ever. |
Moved out of state last year mainly due to APS failing to open, and our new public school class max is 20. So relieved I'm not dealing with this ongoing APS nonsense....and feel bad for parents that are. I only look back here occasionally out of curiosity but I truly never imagined it would still be bad (in different ways-expanding class sizes, no lunch spacing inside) in APS one year after we moved. (Side note: APS could have done what it's doing this Fall with its Covid plans, LAST fall.) If anything it's dicier now with the delta variant and kids. I'm honestly surprised at how many good people have stayed in APS despite all this. Either these boards widely exaggerate the situation and most people are happier than it seems at APS, or they just don't have the option to move. |
Where did you move with a 20 kid max? It is a bit riskier for kids this year but adults are vaccinated, which is a huge difference considering we need them to run the school. |
PP: We moved to a central Midwestern state. Don't get me wrong- I'm pro-school opening even with Delta variant, I just find it bewildering that APS couldn't get its act together last year, as if this year is completely safer. The vaccinations for adults WERE a game changer-until delta. But hopefully we will ALL weather this and the vaccines will be approved for kids soon. I will say...having moved to the Midwest...we're running into way more skepticism about vaccines and way lower rates of vaccination for adults in our state over-all, which is driving me insane. However, we live in an urban-ish district that leans left so in our particular school district, everyone I've encountered is pro-vaccine. |
Teachers and staff could/should have been vaccinated earlier this year. Yet APS still stuck to just 2 days/week in person. So ridiculous. This SB is a disaster. |
Too late. |
Yep. Us too. Should have done it years ago. APS is a sh!tshow |
This is us too. We moved across the country mainly because of the failure of the school system. Kids have been back in school 3 weeks already with actual learning from day 1. My 6th grader is definitely behind their peers since they were mainly in person last year. We will work to catch them up but it’s going to take a lot of work. I do feel for the kids still in APS. |
Similar situation here.. the difference of being in a district that prioritized kids being in a classroom last year is crystal clear. Thank god we left when we did. I feel bad for the kids/families and teachers/staff that are stuck with APS leadership.. I've also noticed a stark difference in teachers being more engaged/happy because they are treated well. Which has a direct impact on the kids. |
And yet you're both still posting here because you just can't stop disparaging others. I think we are all better off that you're gone, nasties. BYE! |
I'm here because we would love to return but not while APS is still a mess. |
And conveniently not naming the districts because we could easily look their scores up and compare to APS |
Ha ha, yes! |
