You are smart to keep it to 5 pounds. Trust me, weeks of effort is easier than months or years of a calorie deficit. Exercising with 5 extra pounds is nothing compared to having to deal with 50 extra pounds. Be glad you've been able to stay on top of it like you have. I am really hoping to do the same. Maintenance is a PITA at times but it's nothing compared to the months long calorie restriction involved in taking a large amount of weight off. I look at some of the people who have lost 100+ pounds and wonder how on earth they did it. Can you imagine having to lose 50 pounds before you are even able to take a walk around your neighborhood? I can't. |

Op here. 40 yo man. I am doing IF 16:8. Thanks to the French woman and the other PP of 1600 Cal diet. I hated both of them and felt that they were cheating the system. But now I realize our bodies don’t need so much food to function. I don’t find loss of energy at all and now I am no longer starving. I ate healthy but salty food at IKEA and gained 1lb. So water weight is part of this journey. But I feel a lot more confident about myself now.
I am planning to hit Gym this week and start working on muscles to see what happens. I will post experience as I find evidence of what works. |
Amen! (I am the PP who suggested not to indulge earlier
And I felt even more empowered when I started keto and fasting (only short fasts, about 24 hrs). I also feel very energetic (40 y.o. female), whereas was sluggish after eating carbs (very healthy carbs, mind you). |
Thank you for your kind words and understanding! I wish you the best of luck with your struggle! |
You've clearly never tried to get from 12% body fat to 10%. When you have less fat (i.e. already have six pack abs) , losing the last few pounds is VERY tough. |
meh...I think PP meant those who have fat to lose rather than those who are sub 15% fat percentage. |
Yes, I was talking specifically about people who weigh more than they want to and want to drop some fat. That's pretty much what this thread is about. |

How long are you going to be posting about your insane quest to be scary skinny? Please seek professional help as opposed to embracing your mental illness. |
If pp is a male, 10% is great but not scary skinny. |
I'm female 18% body fat trying to get to 17%. Not. Easy. At. All. |
DP. You are kidding. Average height and size women above 50 should not be eating more than 1400-1600 calories a day. Otherwise, they will gain weight. |
cut carbs and it will fall off |
| So have you kept it off? |
| Op here. I am at -14lb now. 16:8 IF and conscious effort to weed out all of the proceeded food are doing the trick. I have joined the Gym for strength training. Contrary to advice such as drink protein shake etc after the Gym, I simply drink Green tea and water during IF. My body seems to have adopted the new routine and I don’t feel hungry anymore. I have 16lb more to go. I now feel that the first six lbs were most difficult to lose. The next 10 came off through consistency and I never experienced any headache. |
