Lost 6 lbs in 10 days - overweight - here is what I did.

Anonymous
I lost 6 lbs because I am overweight 41 M. I would like to share what I did:

1. Drink twice as much water.
2. No processed food period.
3. Walk/Run 1 mile a day without any break.
4. Green Tea once a day.
5. Skip Coffee, Salt, and Sugar as much as possible. I drank decaf coffee only.
6. Delay morning breakfast at least to 10 am.

I used to be 180. Now I am 174. Any thoughts or recommendation to maintain and lose more weight?

Most of what you lost was just water weight. A pound is 3500 calories so unless you ate 21,000 less calories than you normally would have in a ten day period, it wasn't actual weight loss. However all the habits you are moving to are good ones and they will over time lead to weight loss. You should feel a lot less bloated.

PPs are being rude. Good for you OP. Yes, especially for men, it’s normal to have a nice jump start to weight loss when you start making some changes. Your loss will level off, but don’t lose motivation. I don’t have any advice, but I just wanted to send you some positive encouragement. Keep it up!

This is completely untrue.

Congrats, seeing change at the beginning is encouraging.
You need to keep it up but also step it up a bit.

Set a cut off time for eating at night. I would do either 7 or 8 p.m. and stick to it, eat nothing after that until your 10 a.m. breakfast.

For your walk/run try to do high intensity intervals... change intensity and time as you get more used to it..
Good luck, keep us updated!

I think you are on a good path. Keep it up.

Stick with the real food .... I would add stay away from cheese otherwise you plan is solid.

Your body will adjust to less food so weight loss will slow this is normal.

Increase the amount you walk but not too quickly.

In 2 months add weight training, low weights, high reps.

Op here, one thing I forgot to add. I have started typing in an Excel for the last two days. I log weight, daily food I eat and a general comment for the day. I seriously think that a daily journal ? is a big part of weight loss and it continues to motivate.

I agree I feel less bloated now. 20 years ago I used to go to Gym and weighed in 137 to 150 range. So it’s not a great feeling being over weight.

PP, Thank you for your kind encouragement. PP, I agree going to Gym is next. Very much agree that Cheese while it has protein it also has too much salt and I am ready to give up.

Thank you. You are a great person.

Thank you. I agree that a cut off time at night and drink only tea or water makes a major difference. It is almost a fast for 12 hours. I wish to add some high intensity intervals but being overweight it’s not been quite easy.

I am 5 6. My ideal weight is supposed to be 150. So I am still 24 lb over weight.

But, what did you eat? Can you please post what you eat daily and how much of it? Thanks.

The reason I ask what you ate is that I am struggling with 5-10lbs loss for ages now. It seems like even looking at food makes me not lose weight. I am not overweight terribly, but could use to lose 10lbs.

Why decaf? Never thought black regular coffee was a problem. Is the green tea decaf, too?
