Lost 6 lbs in 10 days - overweight - here is what I did.

Anonymous
An example of a day, Morning one cup of water
10am Milk and peanut butter
2pm Lunch grilled veggie and rice
5pm Fruit
6pm Carrot juice and amazing grass plus Vita D
8pm whole grain bread and bean soup
9pm Green Tea

This is just an example. I am a vegetarian so I do not eat meat or eggs.

If you want to lose only 5lb then you can just cut all salt and sugar for a week. Eat raw food.

Good job! I'd recommend intermittent fasting, then going low carb or (preferably) keto (or start both at the same time). And then, when you are fat adapted, try fasting. That's what works for me, and I am never hungry.

But if you are not really familiar with any of those things, please, please read as much as you can (from reputable sources) before you start - because there are a lot of huge misconceptions about them.

If you are on Instagram, low.carb.love is a big inspiration for me (lots of great tips and recipes). For fasting, search Dr. Jason Fung, he is a nephrologist who did a lot of reasearch on fasting and wrote a book or two but I think you don't really need to buy any books as he gives plenty of info online.

And of course, no diet will provide sustainable results if a person returns to his old habits. Good luck!

Good job, OP. I've lost 27 lbs in about 6 months, but I started out a healthy (not overweight) weight. I just wanted to be super skinny and toned.

My advice- increase your workouts. 1 mile is a great start but 3-4 miles 3-4 times a week and weightlifting on off days will really give you some great definition.

Personally, I think you're losing out by cutting coffee. Coffee is very healthy and also suppresses appetite.

PP can you please provide details on your regimen? 27 pounds in 6 months, congrats!

Sure, I aim for 1000-1400 calories per day while losing weight (I do periods of maintenance, for example, through the holidays).

Work out at least every other day very aggressively. For example, run 5-7 miles, kickboxing, orangetheory once a week, and weightlifting at least once a week.

Sleep at least 8 hours.

Key to my diet is eating 600 calories or less during the morning and workday.

Stick with the real food .... I would add stay away from cheese otherwise you plan is solid.

Your body will adjust to less food so weight loss will slow this is normal.

Increase the amount you walk but not too quickly.

In 2 months add weight training, low weights, high reps.

Weight loss slows as weight decreases. Nothing to do with “adjusting to less food”

Working out is great but still, weightloss is about 80% diet and 20% exercize.

“You can’t out-exercise a bad diet"

Where do you get this number from? The percentage?

NP. Sigh... everybody replying to this thread really should learn some basic science.

Losing six pounds in 10 days is almost entirely water weight. Period.

You should aim for about two pounds a week of weight loss (if you are very overweight). Otherwise, a bit less.

The best article I've read (excellent web site which I recommend to anyone who wants to figure out why's and how's of weightloss) -

But also many, many others -

Indeed, where are actual facts for this? We are not talking about your arteries and other health issues, but about weight. If I eat Five Guys today and then exercise for five hours and hard core, I bet you I can out-exercise the possible weight gain.

I agree I feel less bloated now. 20 years ago I used to go to Gym and weighed in 137 to 150 range. So it’s not a great feeling being over weight.

PP, Thank you for your kind encouragement. PP, I agree going to Gym is next. Very much agree that Cheese while it has protein it also has too much salt and I am ready to give up.

I’m confused, what’s your gender??

You may google it if you really want to know.

As to eating 950-calories meal and then exercising for 5(!) hours - if you have so much time and stamina then sure, you can burn those calories. No one says you can't. But people usually don't exercise for so long.

However, if you want to not just burn the calories you consumed but also to lose some weight you'd then have to exercise for one or two hours more - just to create a calorie deficit. 6 or 7 hours is a lot of exercising.

Again, exercising is great for so many reasons, it's just not a main tool for weightloss. And of course, using both is the best.

There's an excellent table in this article that shows exactly why: https://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/a19982520/weight-loss-80-percent-diet-20-percent-exercise/
