I am an Asian woman married to a white guy. Ask me (practically) anything.

Hey, the ear wax/BO connection was interesting.

Yeah, out here in Loudoun, it's pretty much required if you're a single white guy.

I assume, of course, OP is planning on sending her kids to TJ.

This is true, but because of population numbers AA men and caucasian women couples still exist in greater absolute numbers. Another interesting tidbit is that if you look at American-born Asian populations, the male out-marriage rate is between 30-40% and rising rapidly, which means that it's really Asian immigrants that are skewing the numbers so heavily.

How is it possible you've dated so many guys and have only slept with your husband?

Asians typically don't whore out as much as the others.

Why don't you speak your parents native language with your children? I know so many Asian women married to white men who give their children Anglo names and speak only English. I wonder why they don't want to pass down their heritage. It makes me wonder if the whole reason they marry white men is because they are trying to erase their Asian heritage. This is why I ask, I'd really like to know so I don't make these assumptions. It just seems odd and I can't figure it out, especially when the grandparents almost always solely speak the native language. How do these children communicate and learn from their grandparents with such language barriers?

I was going to write the same thing. I'm really surprised that this is interesting to people. Asian-White couples are everywhere around here.

NP here -- sure, but they don't all do AMAs. My white DS, a college student, is dating a lovely young woman who is Asian-American. This has raised some questions for DH and me (mostly along the lines of "will her parents approve?"), but we don't feel comfortable peppering the AA-white couples we know with questions. I mean, we can bring up the subject when we're with our friends, but we're not going to ask them to do an AMA.

I was going to ask what would you say to those who'll say you're a trophy wife?

I'm no trophy wife. I'm just a cranky, working-mom wife who lets the laundry pile up and yells at poor DH when he forgets to take out the trash. I'm working on that. Apparently Asian wives are not supposed to do that.

Not really. In most Asian households the wives rule.

I'm guessing the reason OP ignored this question is because there may be some truth to the self hate theory.

I bow down to you oh superior one.

Let's see, many European ancestors of whites had their own language, but most didn't learn German, Polish, Gaelic, Dutch, Swedish from their parents and continue to pass it down. Must be some truth to that self hate theory.

How often does he make you do the "Me So Horny" shtick?

You do realize that somewhere between a third to a half of all east Asians naturally have double eyelids, right? In fact, unless this woman is Korean, it's probably more likely than not that she has double eyelids. And, given the fact that Asian genes tend to be more dominant, it should really be the husband who should be changing his eye shape.
