| You really think Pride and Stars are going to have cuts for 2032? Don’t know about Pride but the St James wants that money. And everyone knows their Navy team is a money grab and they only really care about the Light Blue team. |
Mostly at GMU |
| We are also leaving stars for another club. Stars is a mess. |
I guess it depends if more than 2 teams worth of girls show up at the Stars tryouts. Not sure how big they’ll let their roster get for Navy. Pride likely wants 2 teams for 2032 but right now only has one. So you’re right, they probably won’t cut anyone if they have the numbers for a B team. |
What do they do when they get 30-35 girls showing up for 2033/2034? |
If there are enough 33's they will form two teams and make it a 34/35 team at this point. |
That makes total sense. Thank you for explaining. Example, at tryouts they get 22 33s, 15 34s, and 5 35s, they'll combine the youngest. And if there aren't enough 33s, I bet they'd pull a few 34s up and make another squad with the rest of the 34s and 35s. I guess if they get too many 33s, they'd have to either have a big squad. Do they ever have a few 33s play down? That seems like not ideal, unless your DD is on the young side of their grade. |
If you are serious about developing a goalie, you should consider individual private lessons. |
Gussie at Healthy Baller offers goalie lessons. |
I don't think you are allowed to play down just because it isn't fair to other teams. That said, most tournaments don't check rosters... but you will come across some who willl. |
We've used Lauren at ladylaxgoalies.com. Gary Morgan might also still be kicking around. |
Or you could suck it up and head over to MD to Goaliesmith. That's what lots of local goalies do. It's not close to NoVa, but they're the best. |
At that age it is not unusual for girls to play up a year. My daughter had a unique experience, which I believe really helped her, playing up three years. So, when she was a 4th grader she played up with the 7th grade team. But she had the size and athleticism to fit in. By the time she got to 8th grade she started playing with what would be her recruiting class, for recruiting purposes. If the opportunity presents itself and the players are physically mature I would recommend playing up for as long as one can. |
So, bottomline, they find a way to balance out the squads, and as long as your daughter has been playing rec for at least a couple of seasons, she'll make a team? |
