YJ is refocused after new leadership took over locally. I think instead of trying to have multiple teams per age group they need to take the best for 1 team and increase their rankings. It doesn’t show but their HS teams have a lot of talent but they are spread thin amount multiple teams. This will change. Tryouts are over next 2 weeks different age levels at GMU Fx lax Field.

They also have the most kids selected by Capital each year for HS and have multiple teams ranked nationally. Stars is next after Pride but they are owned by private equity and have their own problems. They also bought MCE last year and that has not gone well.

The reports of Metro's death are at least slightly exaggerated. Now part of the 3d umbrella.

Pride is not the best at developing players any more. For younger teams, BLC is doing a much better job. NOVA girls lax clubs are on the decline. Just look at BLC 29 and younger. When that age group gets to MS, CLC will mostly be BLC girls.

BLC 29 went 0-3-1 at live love lax. Impressive.

NL/M&D DC is currently the best DMV area 29s. Not sure if that will continue next season though.

At 2030 and below, BLC does look like the best option. But for OP in NOVA Stars seem solid. I always had a soft spot for VA Metro so if they are now under 3D, I would probably consider that too.

Whether or not Pride are competitive or not is sort of beside the point for me. My personal experience was that it’s a disrespectfully run program.

The club end game for most good local players is to play for Capital Blue for high school. Typically, the highest ranked teams 8th grade year would have the highest concentration of good players and place the most players on Capital Blue. Below are the rankings of the top 5 VA teams 8th grade year. After looking at this list, I would probably want to be on Pride Red or Stars LB because those have been the primary Capital feeders in NOVA as of late.

2028s currently
Pride Red #9
Stars LB #35
YJ South #52
Pride White #89
YJMA #122

2027s when they were in 8th grade
Pride Red #23
Stars LB #42
YJ South #65
Cav Lax #68
Stars White #97

2026s when they were in 8th grade
Stars LB #7
Pride Red #9
Cav Lax #39
Pride Loudon #64
YJ South #119

2025s when they were in 8th grade
Pride Red #13
YJ South #37
Stars LB #38
Cav Lax #63
Pride Loudon #114

I’m no genius, but I believe the “Bethesda” in the name is referring to Bethesda, MD, which I am pretty sure is not in NOVA.

BLC is not in NoVa. They are asking about VA teams.

They may be OK with traveling across the bridge to Bethesda. Better to join now instead of getting beat later.

2013-2019 Cardinal was a really good club. lots of top D1 players and 2016 team beat Capitol top team and was great option for NOVA lacrosse

Princeton used to win national championships in football too…

All of nova is a tough market as the clubs don’t develop players well. If I had a 2030 or younger I would look at blc. They are developing stronger players at that club than what I’ve seen from pride, stars or any other club in the dmv.

Is BLC really worth sitting in horrendous traffic? 495 around the bridge is the worst these days.

Also new to travel Lax. It seems you have to join the USA Lacrosse to even try out?

Depends on the club. Some do, some don’t require a US Lacrosse membership #. You will need it anyway to register for tournaments so you may as well pull the trigger now. It’s not a lot of money.
