What clubs are left in Nova?

But are also trying out for True who is trying to field a new '31/'32 team in the Alexandria/Fairfax/Arlington area. Our Stars coaches don't seem invested in building skills with the girls, practices are unorganized (when they even happen), and we get slaughtered in every tournament, they don't have us playing our peers, don't reply to emails or TeamSnap chat, and clearly favor certain families and Light Blue (the better) teams.

I just posted that my dd left Stars for pretty much those exact reasons and is much happier. As a parent, I appreciate how organized her current club is. The communication is top notch vs stars. I don’t think I ever got a reply to an email from stars unless it was something regarding paying for something. Looking back, I’m mad my dd stayed as long as she did. The navy teams will never have consistent practices or coaches. They also put girls on those who really don’t want to play, so you end up with giant, disorganized teams in a money grab.

Can you say which club you're happier with?

Stars hasn’t been a great club since the St James took them over. They have been on a decline and keep getting worse. Pride is also on the decline. Stars will only get better when there’s a massive change in leadership.

Lacrosse is too niche to be run by large multi sport mega club. Really seems like the kiss of death when one these companies buy a club. MCE was never elite, but it’s somehow gotten worse after STJ purchase.

Another Stars parent and agree on the poor communication for sure. That said, the light blue teams seem to be well-resourced and get good coaching. Like most clubs, there’s a pretty big divide between the A and B side.

Sure, light blue is better resourced but it’s still not as well run or resourced as I expected.

To the PP, did you actually find a northern VA team you are happy with or did you go to MD?

I hear bad things about Metro, I hear horrible things about the younger age groups of Pride. I was hoping Stars would be okay for my 5th grader.

Any info on YJ for the 2030s? Tryouts coming this week.

Avoid Stars. We had an awful year with them. Communication is nonexistent. Leaving and trying out for YJMA, True, and Pride.

Stacey and Kathy Jenkins need to go before that program will get any better.

How many littles (2034/2033/3032) try out in a given year, per team? How difficult is it to make a younger squad? I'm sure it varies by team, but can someone break it down? What are the hardest teams to get on in NOVA, and which are 'show up and you get a spot' type of places, for the young kids?

Pride NOVA
Pride Loudoun
YJMA

They think the program is thriving. The club won’t get better until they are out of the picture.

Do any of the NoVA teams have good goalie development?

At those ages it is not hard to make a team. It is more about learning than actual competition. Look for good coaches and don’t forget the social aspect. Players want to be with their friends.
