OP here. I want to hear more about what he’s doing right! I get it, the media loves to talk about his eschewing of Covid guidance, Martha vineyard stunts, and the theater of his “dont say gay” bill—but these are the “culture war” type things. I’m hoping to learn more about the positives ways he’s improved life for the people of his state.

LOL there is not one positive that is absurd.

This is dictator DeSantis.

Not sure where you have been OP but only idiots in Florida are happy that over 100,000 people. That number is most likely closer to 500,000. People are still dying. But sure DeSantis loves his subjects.

Does he have a private police force? WHY?
He has instructed teachers in the worst possible ways. Most are frightened. Not like schools in Florida were ever good. And the privates are even worse. Not everyone can afford to just quit.

Look at DeSantis's private life the bible thumpers love him even though he cheats on his wife (yeah he bought his of a shiny range rover with taxpayer monies a month ago). Casey had cancer during covid she was not "allowed to mask"

DeSantis and Florida will die a slow death. He will never be president.

Good luck with the war on women in Florida. Not only is he coming for a Full Abortion Ban it will be horrific with contraceptives no condoms even. Prayer in public schools and evangelicals good luck with that he has decided Catholicism is the new region of Florida. Yep fact. He is modeling it after SCOTUS. Not like that is not a common denominator in those crap holes.

There you have it OP move to Florida go ahead crime is awful, cost are crazy high and can not. get insurance homeowners or otherwise so ....... Average cost of electricity in a 2000 square foot home $350 per month at min.

Ladies Ronnie has decided women should not work so by to women-owned businesses and jobs. Don't believe me LOL fun times. My family is old Florida they know things.

OP why don't you donate to Casey's new fund... raise your kids there so they can be barfoot and pregnant age 10. OPPS FLORIDA'S CONSTITUTION HAS A SURPRISE FOR DESANTIS LOL

Absolute crazy town. With trolls like ^^ representing Democrats, it’s no wonder more and more people are running from this party. I feel sorry for the rubes who actually believe any of this garbage.

Can you please refute this post with facts?

Are you actually asking for the bolded garbage (practically the entire post) to be "refuted"? Wow. Why don't you ask for proof of those outlandish claims instead? Best of luck to you as you navigate reality.

I've been going to Florida since the late 1990s. My parents were snowbirds there. We owned a condo there for 10 years. We are now at the age that we are thinking of retiring and possibly snowbirding. We love Florida in the winter. I cannot stand DeSantis, but I am not going to let him stop me from buying property there and spending warm winters there. I am not moving because DeSantis did or does a good job with the state. I think, overall, he is a horrible person. But I am planning to winter there in spite of him. Nowhere else on the East Coast can replicate the warm winters. And I'm not interested in going out West.

Totally agree. FL is a unique situation. As Trump said, Florida “has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run [I.e. taxes!] States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!”

Absolutely, me too, already did it, also can't stand DeSantis. There are a lot of us.

I feel exactly the opposite. I like DeSantis a lot but can't stand Florida. I'd love to move there but the weather prevents me from doing so.

Oh, I will. I'll just plan on voting for DeSantis for president. Have a great night!

Maybe it was rosy for those who live in places like "The Villages" but many who I know were really mad and even as Republicans swore off DeSantis.

False, false and false.

Folks, where do you get your "news"?

Just think of this: if what PP says was true, do you think Floridians would have rewarded DeSantis with a massive, historic win?

Nope.

They voted him because he did a good job. Not perfect, but certainly better than the majority of other states.

Paranoia is not your friend.

typical GOP non-response. Just say that everyone else is lying when you in fact are the one lying.

OP, if you're serious, here are some pointers.

Which other Governor...

Focused on protecting the elderly from Day 1 (the opposite of Cuomo)

Kept schools safely open most of 2021-2022, improving the lives of thousands of kids and their parents.

Prevented the massive riots that took place in so many other states, protecting the lives of an untold number of minorities.

Treated adults like adults, so that for example they could open and visit, safely, shops and restaurants.

Want more?

Is this some kind of hideous joke?

He lied about Covid data and Florida has the highest rate of senior deaths. He had a dangerous surgeon general. Both made it entirely political.

I would never retire there with sky high housing costs. The restrictions on immigration make it tough to get things done around the house. My MIL has waited a year to get her driveway done. They can’t get yard workers. No thanks!

You have been exposed to way too much misinformation.

People over the age of 70, who were the most at-risk of covid death, have been safer in Florida than basically anywhere else.

Do the research, do the math. It's plain obvious if you dare to see it.

Please post this obvious research I am missing.

It's a very simple division.

Total Covid deaths/ people over the age of 70.

Do this across all states or, to simplify, simply do the big ones: CA, TX, NY, PA, IL ... and contrast with FL.

You'll learn a thing or two.

Well, you're clearly terrible at math. In The Palm Beach Post I posted above (and you clearly ignored) reports that findings from the CDC report "The coronavirus has killed more people aged 65 and over in Florida than any other state in the nation."

So, until you can show me show me something other than your non-data and alternative math, I'll go with the experts. And, so should Floridians.

We know that the state's Dept of Health was starting an investigation of the state's reporting of Covid deaths. I didn't hear of that happening in any other state. Your boy Desantis is no friend of seniors. Just own it.

They won't own it. The GOP just keeps doubling-down on their lies. they don't deal in facts or reality and then they say everyone else is lying.

You can't argue with crazy and gullible. They need cult deprogramming.

Actually that sounds like you.

Floridians just voted, and very clearly so. They like life with DeSantis.

Too much for you to understand? Well, so be it.

Um, there are probably more people aged 65 and over in Florida than in any other state.

Florida has the second-oldest population in the country. Given that we know who covid typically is lethal to (old people), Florida should have done much worse than it did when it came to deaths per population.

It seems like a very well run state. In the spring/summer of ‘20 it was especially glorious, because it was the only place that felt “normal”, especially compared to NY/NJ/LI at the time, where I also work frequently. DC-area was sort of in-between the two, but I always looked forward to going to FL.

One thing I will definitely point out is that in my experience, state employees in FL, regardless of the agency, seem more competent and willing to help than in many other places. I have to deal with a lot of regulatory compliance stuff, and the FDEP folks are top-notch.

Glorious almost normal unless you worked in health care. The stories of nurse travelers who did stints in FL during Covid are pretty bad. But hey at least you got to enjoy the sunshine state PP.
