So I’m not really tuned into Florida politics….
I know the “build a wall” campaign ad, and I know he disdains the woke mob for Covid restrictions, CRT, normalizing trans, etc…
But what’s life REALLY like with Ron in charge? How are things in FL? Are residents safer down there? Are the effects of inflation not felt as much? Do they have better health care/insurance, infrastructure, schools, etc?

Didn't he want a private army? Wasn't there something a couple of years ago that he thought he should have troops who answered only to him?

I am generally on his side where culture wars are concerned, but he is DEFINITELY another authoritarian. No thank you.

Non-Floridian here, but from my outsider’s perspective, I feel like that’s all he is. Culture wars.

He raised property taxes by 20% two years straight. The money was shipped off to Disney.

Inflation is not lower here. Housing prices are sky high - good for me because I bought before that happened, bad for almost everyone else - and he's done nothing to address affordability. I haven't seen comparative stats but I don't think crime is lower here. We have a shortage of teachers that has been addressed by making it even harder and less appealing to be a teacher. He has not expanded healthcare to make it more available. He has restricted abortion, and it looks like it's going to be restricted even further under the next legislature; I have zero doubt he will sign whatever bill they put before him.

82,500 people died of COVID on his watch, and he touts this as a success.

If you're a right winger, you probably like where he's turned his attention - stopping trans kids from getting gender-affirming care; don't say gay; that executive order that lets drivers run over protesters; suppressing voting; all that stuff. He's done nothing to address the rising anti-semitism in the state, which, as a Jewish person, scares me. If you are not a right winger, it fills you with dread and rage every time he opens his mouth because you see all the vulnerable people whose lives just got worse.

He's a bad person. A very very bad person. Life under DeSantis will be fine for you if you aren't vulnerable in any way, and if you are it will be bad. You never know when he is going to turn his eye toward you.

My Florida friends and family hate him with a passion. They are all educated, pro choice, want social programs, etc. They say he’s fascist, anti-semetic, etc. It’s been interesting watching his rise to national power as not a lot of this is making the news.

The culture war in Florida is between DeSantis and his white Sherriffs ie Oath Keepers so glad you stand with that crap on culture wars RACIST.

DeSantis is heinous nothing good.

Sure go on stand with the POS Republican cheating on his wife, tried to kill her during covid she had breast cancer and he made her sit through indoor non masked events for hours.
Do you know how he is treating teachers or doctors? He killed over 50,000 Americans with his covid policies that he is telling us. That number reported by Emergency room doctors is actually double that probably more and they are still dying.
