OP here. I want to hear more about what he’s doing right! I get it, the media loves to talk about his eschewing of Covid guidance, Martha vineyard stunts, and the theater of his “dont say gay” bill—but these are the “culture war” type things. I’m hoping to learn more about the positives ways he’s improved life for the people of his state.

LOL there is not one positive that is absurd.

This is dictator DeSantis.

Not sure where you have been OP but only idiots in Florida are happy that over 100,000 people. That number is most likely closer to 500,000. People are still dying. But sure DeSantis loves his subjects.

Does he have a private police force? WHY?
He has instructed teachers in the worst possible ways. Most are frightened. Not like schools in Florida were ever good. And the privates are even worse. Not everyone can afford to just quit.

Look at DeSantis's private life the bible thumpers love him even though he cheats on his wife (yeah he bought his of a shiny range rover with taxpayer monies a month ago). Casey had cancer during covid she was not "allowed to mask"

DeSantis and Florida will die a slow death. He will never be president.

Good luck with the war on women in Florida. Not only is he coming for a Full Abortion Ban it will be horrific with contraceptives no condoms even. Prayer in public schools and evangelicals good luck with that he has decided Catholicism is the new region of Florida. Yep fact. He is modeling it after SCOTUS. Not like that is not a common denominator in those crap holes.

There you have it OP move to Florida go ahead crime is awful, cost are crazy high and can not. get insurance homeowners or otherwise so ....... Average cost of electricity in a 2000 square foot home $350 per month at min.

Ladies Ronnie has decided women should not work so by to women-owned businesses and jobs. Don't believe me LOL fun times. My family is old Florida they know things.

OP why don't you donate to Casey's new fund... raise your kids there so they can be barfoot and pregnant age 10. OPPS FLORIDA'S CONSTITUTION HAS A SURPRISE FOR DESANTIS LOL

NP. This doesn’t surprise me at all, since he’s a high level male politician whom many people adore, but I’m curious what proof or stories have been leaked? I haven’t seen anything yet.

Regarding COVID statistics: there was some issue whereby Florida was using different criteria for measuring the effects of COVID among its citizens than every other state so that the numbers could not be compared in any meaningful way.

I don't remember the details, but hopefully someone can explain that here.

OP, if you're serious, here are some pointers.

Which other Governor...

Focused on protecting the elderly from Day 1 (the opposite of Cuomo)

Kept schools safely open most of 2021-2022, improving the lives of thousands of kids and their parents.

Prevented the massive riots that took place in so many other states, protecting the lives of an untold number of minorities.

Treated adults like adults, so that for example they could open and visit, safely, shops and restaurants.

Want more?

Is this some kind of hideous joke?

He lied about Covid data and Florida has the highest rate of senior deaths. He had a dangerous surgeon general. Both made it entirely political.

I would never retire there with sky high housing costs. The restrictions on immigration make it tough to get things done around the house. My MIL has waited a year to get her driveway done. They can’t get yard workers. No thanks!

You have been exposed to way too much misinformation.

People over the age of 70, who were the most at-risk of covid death, have been safer in Florida than basically anywhere else.

Do the research, do the math. It's plain obvious if you dare to see it.

Please post this obvious research I am missing.

It's a very simple division.

Total Covid deaths/ people over the age of 70.

Do this across all states or, to simplify, simply do the big ones: CA, TX, NY, PA, IL ... and contrast with FL.

You'll learn a thing or two.

Remember that several counties around Tampa Bay had a sudden and severe surge in deaths by “senility” right at time Covid cases were surging. Florida also had a lot of extra “pneumonia” deaths with no other explanation, also in the middle of Covid case surges.

Oh yeah the conspiracy theories.

Tell us, where are the tens of thousands of undeclared corpses?

They had the excess deaths, they just had some coroners who refused to say they were Covid deaths. Those are the big jumps innunexplained “senility” and “pneumonia” deaths in Florida’s stats.

This is a conspiracy theory.

Look up CDC mortality data.

So when you are asked to conserve water because H2O is needed to generate more oxygen when the hospitals are running out, then yeah your governor f&$& ‘ed up pretty bad. Regardless, the unnecessary deaths from COVID are beside the point.

What DeSantis and Trump both do very well is to read what the crazies want and seize on those aspects which resonate fears and conscious or unconscious bias in the people who will tolerate the nuts. They aren’t leaders, they are followers. This is why Trump could not get people to take the vaccine even though he wanted credit for it. He tried, was boo’d and quickly did an about face.

DeSantis doesn’t care about immigration or immigrants. Shipping the bus to MA got him earned free media and fed the red base of sludge voters. Same with all the attacking lgtb kids. His own kids go to private school that doesn’t pull that crap and wasn’t anti mask or vaccine. It is a calculation only as to where the base is at. If the winds blew a different direction, he’d switch course.

His let COVID rip through our state was originally about the state budget. Florida is not very diversified without tourism and hospitality they are dead. Florida didn’t have the money to pay everyone who was eligible , the problems in their unemployment system are a feature not a bug.

Well, you're clearly terrible at math. In The Palm Beach Post I posted above (and you clearly ignored) reports that findings from the CDC report "The coronavirus has killed more people aged 65 and over in Florida than any other state in the nation."

So, until you can show me show me something other than your non-data and alternative math, I'll go with the experts. And, so should Floridians.

We know that the state's Dept of Health was starting an investigation of the state's reporting of Covid deaths. I didn't hear of that happening in any other state. Your boy Desantis is no friend of seniors. Just own it.

Are you referring to Rebekah Jones, the nut who "blew the whistle," only for the feds to find out she was a complete whack job who had committed a felony? Oh.

They must not hate it *that* much. What we hear about - constantly - is how many people are moving IN to Florida. DeSantis is clearly doing a lot of things right.

I know someone who was living in an assisted living home, which was a popular reason to move to Florida, who was locked up and they could not even go beyond their door of their suite... this all ran this for almost 18 months. They had to have meals dropped off and retrieved at their door. Imagine closing your life like this. Perhaps while you got to enjoy and take a chance spreading Covid, many were left behind and simply ignored. Same goes for the shots, testing, unemployment, actual death counts, students who had serious health issues.

And heck, I want to know more about when he was a teacher and partied with his students.

Maybe it was rosy for those who live in places like "The Villages" but many who I know were really mad and even as Republicans swore off DeSantis.

False, false and false.

Folks, where do you get your "news"?

Just think of this: if what PP says was true, do you think Floridians would have rewarded DeSantis with a massive, historic win?

Nope.

They voted him because he did a good job. Not perfect, but certainly better than the majority of other states.

Paranoia is not your friend.

This. It's really beyond amusing to see all the made up hysteria about a governor who just won a MASSIVE landslide reelection.

You're joking, I hope?

You have to DIVIDE that total number of deaths by the total number of people over 65 living in FL. That's how you get a percentage that you can use to compare states.

Right? Right?
