Well, at least Trump is transparent in what he wants to do. Obama just shipped the kids and families around the nation without informing the governors of the states they were sent to. |
Source? |
DP. He dumped a lot of them in Fairfax County with no notice. All of a sudden, we had all these illegal alien children needing ESOL classes and free lunches, along with additional teachers to carry the load. Since there was no warning, systems were caught off-guard. |
Oh so now it's a resource issue?! It always has been. These kids have been dumped in our schools for far too long. They need to keep them in one place, send them to school while they go through the courts and deport as soon as they lose their asylum case. Use one of the islands or something. One you release them into the interior they disappear, have more kids, etc. In order to get to stay. They shouldnt be getting too comfortable |
+1 million and now Fairfax is moving toward sanctuary county status. |
They've been a sanctuary county for years, Herndon a sanctuary city. They just never declared it. Now they are being transparent about it. Trump has certainly showed us the hidden side of liberalism. |
YUp. And it costs $15,000 per ESOL student, without any additional federal support. No wonder MACY's asked me to donate money "for the schoolchildren" since the school system is short. I'm already paying more in property taxes than I am in P&I, and now I'm supposed to give even more money because the illegal immigrants need more money to cover their ESOL classes and free lunch? And don't get me started on these progressive leftist nut cases who are now advocating for health insurance for illegals. I can barely afford my own crappy plan. |
Herndon has become a slum. I really feel sorry for the working-class Americans who used to live in the modest apartments along Elden Street. The neighborhood is completely foreign, with adult males hanging out on the corner all day. Thirty years ago, it was a respectable, if poorer, area to live, with children attending decent, if not great, schools. Now the schools are all a 3. |
Precisely. I've been in the area for 30 years and have seen the degradation of Herndon due to the very policies that are continuing. FFX CTY officials have a huge disdain for McLean/Great Falls and will stop at nothing to share the wealth that they don't think the residents deserve. |
Start tweeting/writing/calling your congressmen/women and the WH to tell them to withhold federal funding from these schools until they stop their outlandish socialistic policies |
You are a xenophobic MF. |

Not either PP. But, there is an elementary school in Herndon which has increased membership by 39 kids since the beginning of the year--23 since January. That is the equivalent of two more classrooms. The school is heavily Hispanic and ESOL. Almost 70% are English learners. This drains our resources. English learners require more money than English speaking kids. That is a fact.
It is ironic that Fairfax County is putting $200K in its budget for immigration defense for the undocumented. This school could likely have used an extra $200K for teachers and aides. It would be better spent there. We are required to educate all kids--no matter how they get here. I strongly support educating the kids. But, to say it is not draining resources is deceitful. This is not sustainable. Schools are only part of the resources being drained. Talk to people who work in the local pantries. Talk to the churches that send home food packets for the kids on weekends. |
Reality check: a lot of school funding comes from property taxes, and those are also paid from rental properties, and that the families of those ESOL kids are renting, and are ineligible for federal rent subsidies. Those families work for a living and to pay their rent. So stop pretending it's all a free ride on your back. |
Not the person to whom you are responding. Another reality check: if you think the people living in those apartments are contributing more than they are taking with their rent that pays property taxes, you need to think again. Do you really believe they are living one family to an apartment? Do you really think all of the men standing at the 7-11 are getting jobs every day? I am familiar with the area the PP was referring to. I doubt you've ever been there. The people are hardworking and poor--but, there are an awful lot of young women pushing strollers and walking kids who do not appear to be working. And, they don't speak English. Talk to some of the teachers. These kids are not living one family to an apartment. And, I doubt their contribution to property taxes is coming anywhere near to supporting the schools. This is a crisis. |

I don't understand why liberals are griping about illegals being sent to areas that are predominantly Democratic or are sanctuary cities/counties. These are the people who have no issue with illegals ........ oh wait, they are open to illegals as long as they are not in their neck of the woods.
More hypocrisy! |
