A big part of the issue is that ICE wants local and county governments to bend over backwards, expend their resources doing part of ICE's job for them with zero funds or resources in exchange to do it. |
My friend works in immigration. She sent an article a while ago that detailed the number of judges they would hire to help with processing b/c they were getting slammed for being inefficient. so yes, more money medical care? another good question - But I don't know the answer. |
Are the voices telling you to support Hillary? Let the voices know that she hasn’t been a candidate for 2-1/2 years and it’s time to get over her. |
Obama repeatedly asked for more funding for immigration judges to clear out the backlog, as well as for more funding for detention facilities and was repeatedly denied by the Republican-run congress. So there's that, too. |
| Where exactly should all these migrants go? |
Mexico has repeatedly offered them space, but they have refused. And even if they manage to make it to the US/Canada border, Canada doesn't want them either, despite how "welcoming" Trudeau appears to be. so . . . they are absorbed into the US, like it or not. |
thus far 424 judges handling 892,000 cases . . . That's over 2000 cases per judge. They were given the OK to hire another 100 judges to assist. However, we're not talking only about judges; the budget includes funding for attorneys, legal assistants, interpreters and other support staff. We're still paying no matter how you look at it. However, the more people we process, the more taxpayers pay - every step of the way . . . before processing, during processing and after processing them through. We don't think about the details, do we? I can b/c I have friends who work in the field. But these logistical questions are the ones the 2020 candidates NEED to address. What are the long-term cost benefits of continuing in this manner? Are we that certain that once they're processed, the benefits we provide them in terms of finding employment and housing, in schooling them, and in providing them healthcare will strengthen our society? So far, many of our schools in urban areas are already coming apart at the seams. And we can't even figure out healthcare for our own citizens. just sayin' . . . |
Hillary’s got this in the bag! CNN and NYT and MSNBC and NPR all day so! I’ve already got my tickets for the coronation. |
Wow. Still obsessed with her, YEARS later. Do you look at her photo while you masterbate? |
Typical Liberal hatred. Nice. |
F your feelings. |
| Wouldn't it be time to call in the UN to set up camps, doctors without borders clinics etc? I would imagine the average salary for a judge isvery high, not to mention doctors etc. Instead of hiring more - let's ask the international community for help. Then refugees can wait in safe, orderly camps to be heard and processed through our existing apparatus. |
I’ll take that as a yes. Hope you get the help you need. |
| And again, isnt it time for UN assistance rather than massively rearranging how we prioritize US resources? Only a small percentage of these visitors qualify for asylum. There are camps all over the world processing refugees. Many people wait years. Meanwhile, while proper processing folks we could also examine our quotas and means for legal entry - we need legal migrants (seasonal workers) and immigrants. Legal. |
