Those who are skinny can you share what you eat in a day?

Every day is different and some days are better than others. Today I had a yogurt w granola and berries on top for breakfast, randomly didn’t have time for lunch at home so I got egg bites from Starbucks around lunch time and for dinner I had pizza bc we do pizza every Friday. And red wine of course. Breakfast is usually a yogurt parfait, or egg sandwich or oatmeal. Lunch is usually a turkey and cheese sandwich or salad if I have more time. And dinner during the week is something I usually cook like a sheet pan dinner… earlier this week we had Greek chicken thighs with roasted potatoes and asparagus, another night I made sautéed veggies with chick pea pasta and Parmesan cheese. Half the nights I’ll have a glass of red wine. I’m the evening when it not ungodly hot I’ll have plain decaf tea.

I was bummed because as an overweight person, what i eat daily is similar to what everyone is posting here, but I'm sure people think it's like breakfast - McDonald's, lunch-cheeseburger & fries, dinner-pasta, garlic bread, cake and all I drink all day is coke.

I'm fat. I've always been fat and probably without surgery, I'll always be fat. None of my siblings are fat and my parents aren't either. I grew up eating the same things as them, though.

It would have been nice to have people post. I know that people have some strange ideas about what thin or overweight or anyone eats. If some dcum pps saw me eat so much bread yesterday and potatoes chips, they would think I am insane. Eh, who cares, bunch of judgy people.

My scale has one decimal point and I weighed myself shortly before clicking on this thread... My BMI is normal, I eat pretty much everything. Perhaps I just like numbers? What's your problem?

While I'm here, I totally agree with PP that gnawing meat off bones is a fun pleasure for kids and adults around the world. Certainly less gross or weird than eating a bag of chips with a bottle of pop while watching TV.

And finally for another PP, kcal = kilocalories, which is the actual unit reported on labels, but for some reason everyone just says calories. (Cue people accusing me of disordered eating for knowing the difference.)

Breakfast: Hard boiled egg, 2 cups coffee with half and half, small apple cider donut from farmers market

Lunch: Fried chicken tender, DD’s leftover scoop of red beans and rice, small bowl homemade stewed tomatoes, small blueberry biscuit

1-2 beers

Dinner: Soft taco with ground beef and potato, topped with sour cream, cheese, avocado

I’m the PP-forgot to add a small scoop of homemade peach cobbler with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. I pretty much eat what I want most days, but I’m mindful of portion sizes. I think that’s a big reason people have a hard time with diet in this country. Nobody knows what a reasonable portion looks like.

I can comment on the "What do you eat in a day if you're obese?" versus "What do you eat in a day if you're skinny", since I have been both. I lost more than 100 pounds over 2 years (non-surgically).
Being 100% honest, here is my diet at about 260 pounds versus now (150 pounds)

Obese
Breakfast: 3-4 cups of coffee with 2% milk, splenda (usually no breakfast)
Lunch: Very large salad with many pockets of high calorie items (macaroni salad, chicken salad, fried tofu, hummus) and usually a higher calorie dressing. Due to the number of high calorie sides, the calories could have been 800-900.
Before dinner: Grabbed 2-3 "Balanced Breaks", as I was usually very hungry by then (they have about 200 calories each), or had cheese dipped in mayonnaise and mustard. I was so hungry when I got home (around 5) I needed to eat a few things before dinner, which was almost always a heated up meal (never cooked)
Dinner: Frozen dinner (Lean Cuisine), followed by several other snacks like celery and hummus, chips and dip, etc
Snack: Later night I'd usually have 2-3 bowls of ice cream or some other absurd late night snacking binge (ice cream followed by chips, a bowl of cereal followed by ice cream, etc)


Today:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with fruit, almond milk
Lunch: Garden salad. Volume wise, mostly low calorie items like Kale, cauliflower rice, etc. Protein source like tofu or beans. A few tablespoons of fat items (weighed): hummus or avocado. Salsa or oil and vinegar for dressing
Dinner: Usually a cooked meal, consisting of protein (tofu, tempeh, beans) with a starch and abundance of vegetables.(usually brussels sprouts)
Snack: (if needed): frozen fruit in almond milk


I can say honestly I overate as an obese person. And i didn't exercise. I am a different person now.

Knowing the difference, no. Caring about the difference, yes.

^ this is the key difference. Honestly in general you don’t need to eat different foods to get skinny, just smaller portions and minus the extra items that add unnecessary calories (extra dressing, extra cheese, extra snacks, extra ice cream).

It is really disturbing that people think having some depth of knowledge about food is a sign of an eating disorder.

But mentally noting every calorie you eat and adding them up- when you aren't overweight, does seem obsessive and disordered.

I didn't read it that way. I track my budget and know what I spend on everything. I am not in debt, have no financial problems -- but part of the reason for that is that I know what I am spending and what income I am receiving. I wouldn't think to myself, oh, I don't have any money problems. Why am I tracking all this?

I look at food in the same way. I'm not overweight, but I spent a lot of time getting to know the calories and nutritional content of food. I always look at labels. I want to know what I'm eating (as much for the ingredients as the calories).

Breakfast: black tea with cream and sugar x 2, the crusts from toast (whole wheat, butter, jam)

Snack:a piece of cheese or 2

Lunch: triscuts (maybe 6?) leftover quesadilla slices and peas

Dinner 1: pieces of cooked pasta dipped in pasta sauce as it’s simmering

Dinner 2: salad with beans, cheese, lemon dressing

Dessert: a large helping of half baked ice cream

(I’m a sahm of 3 young kids)

Agree with in-depth knowledge of food and nutrition.

I read "Sugar Blues" as a freshman in college 40 years ago and never looked back. Changed my major from Anthropology to Nutrition. Serves me well as a licensed dietician and as a mom to know what is in my food and on what kind of food I am spending my family budget. (I also became a vegetarian in my mid-twenties and raised my kids vegetarian. Not an easy task in the 80s-90s.)

I was overweight during menopause for 8 years by 10 pounds, but never beyond that. KNOW the value of the food you bring into your house do you don't develop bad habits.
