Jesus is a Liberal

I feel a mixture of pity and contempt for you. Your barely literate ramblings reveal your desperate desire to feel superior. If there is a God I am sure he/she has marked you out as a self-righteous judgmental prick, and set out a particularly nasty corner of Hell for you to repent your obnoxious trolling for all eternity. Good luck!
Man... you break easy.

Actually you got this totally wrong. With a lot of examples, like the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught that people outside his listeners' own religion/tribe/race were actually better people than the folks he was preaching to. Samaritans were despised by Jesus' listeners.

Just one of the many commendable, liberal attitudes taken by Jesus. And the complete opposite of the "my religion is better than your religion" approach that abounds today, including among conservative christians.
Of course Jesus reaches out to unbelievers. But unless they convert to accept Christ as the savior....you know the rest.

Pedophilia wasn't a contentious issue back then, nor is it now. So it's not surprising that Jesus did not feel the need to address it. He also did not cover arson, impersonating a centurion, drowning puppies for fun, or horsewhipping your grandmother.

But homosexuality was a relevant, debated subject both then and now. His non-comment on the matter is important.
Then he definately was open to slavery as well.

Yes if it is unmarried sexual relations.

Yes if it is unmarried sexual relations.
And they are only condemned if they don't accept the gift of Christs forgiveness for sinning.

Not to confuse your rhetoric with fact, but sex is not the only way HIV is transmitted.

Try all you want. You can't come up with a conservative quote from Jesus. So you are nitpicking on what's left of the argument.

I've always thought Jesus was the ultimate leftist hippie radical... and that's a good thing.

"What would Jesus Drive"? Gimme a break. He would hike, ride Greyhound, and hitchhike his way around. He would eschew any material goods.

Unless it's J. Crew.

No I don't know the rest. That's because you're channelling the stereotypical right wing Jesus. Not the Jesus liberal Christians know.

This wasn't reaching out to unbelievers, BTW. You missed the point. The point was that the unbeliever was a better person than some self-satisfied believers.

The left needs to take back Christianity for progressive reform. We need to use the Gospel to wake people up to pressing moral issues that we don't talk about... like poverty in the U.S. ... and the onus on us, as Christians, to do the right thing.

The life of Jesus is recorded in four gospels, at least one of which was written independently of the others. Had Jesus' priority been to condemn homosexuality, he had ample opportunity to do it. He did not, so at best his position is unknown.

One can say that the gospels do not record Jesus' thoughts on slavery or gender equality. True, but those were social norms. Whether he did not address them because people were unready for the message, or whether the authors and editors did not include his statements because of fear of backlash from Roman or Jewish society, we will never know.

But one thing is certain. Homosexuality was not a social norm of the day. If Jesus wanted to comment, he could have done so without consequence. And clearly the editors of the New Testament would not have excluded such a statement, since Paul's comments exist.

This leaves us with no statement from Jesus on homosexuality.

My understanding of ancient roman civilization was that it was totally acceptable behavior for men to have male lovers, preferable pubescent ones. I don't recall ever reading anything about women and homosexuality.

Jesus was also a vegetarian....one more hippie trait!

He did eat fish, so I guess it depends on how you define "vegetarian".
