“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them.” . . . And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. (Mark 10:14-16) ![]() I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. |
The definition of child as in the case of the born and unborn is subject to personal opinion. Same must apply to peiphelia. Jesus never stated what the age of a child is. He probably referred to a child as being under 5 years old. |
Homosapien, numb nuts, as in the original post. Whats homophobic? Just because they spread aids at an alarming rate isn't my fault! I lover the sinner but hate the sin ![]() |
It's homo sapiens. Two words, with an "s" at the end. Do you also call people you love "numb nuts", or does my nitpicking not count as a lovable sin? ![]() BTW, homophobic means you fear them (as in obsessing about AIDS), not that you hate them. |
since when does bringing up the subject of aids equal obsessing. The homosexual lifestyle spreads aids very quickley its just a relevant fact. Nit picking is not a sin but calling someone homophobic is. Forgive them father they know not what they do. See I love you! |
If homophobic would mean you fear them. That doesn't really apply when you just feel sorry for them. Everybody is a sinner but the real problem is when people try to justify sinning and reject God in order to continue to live in darkness, not asking to be forgiven. |
I feel a mixture of pity and contempt for you. Your barely literate ramblings reveal your desperate desire to feel superior. If there is a God I am sure he/she has marked you out as a self-righteous judgmental prick, and set out a particularly nasty corner of Hell for you to repent your obnoxious trolling for all eternity. Good luck! |
Actually you got this totally wrong. With a lot of examples, like the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught that people outside his listeners' own religion/tribe/race were actually better people than the folks he was preaching to. Samaritans were despised by Jesus' listeners. Just one of the many commendable, liberal attitudes taken by Jesus. And the complete opposite of the "my religion is better than your religion" approach that abounds today, including among conservative christians. |
Jim Wallis is a local, BTW. He's interesting because he comes from a conservative background, which sometimes shows up on social issues (and sometimes I disagree with him there), but he really calls his conservative compatriots to the carpet on economic/distributional issues. His books & Sojourners are a good read. |
Jesus foretold Mohammed? |
The "homosexual lifestyle" is a tad broad. Some segments of the homosexual population have risky sexual behaviors that lead to a higher rate of disease transmission. Lesbians have a lower transmission rate than straight people, yet we are still homosexuals. Monogamous couples (straight, gay or lesbian) also have low transmission rates. You should get out more if you think we all run from bed to bed, wearing assless pants and rainbow beads. Most of the homosexuals I know are parents in monogamous relationships. |
The percentage of heterosexuals with AIDS is growing larger and larger every day. Does Jesus condemn them? |
In my experience, the people who use this phrase really do not love the sinner. At all. In any way. They just get to the hating. |
Muslims aren't going to hell. They believe he was a powerful and respected prophet. I think Jesus would be happy enough, and it's a heck of a lot more plausible that he is a prophet than he is actually an all-powerful God who had to get killed to save the people he created and rules over - and killed by those very people. |
Pedophilia wasn't a contentious issue back then, nor is it now. So it's not surprising that Jesus did not feel the need to address it. He also did not cover arson, impersonating a centurion, drowning puppies for fun, or horsewhipping your grandmother. But homosexuality was a relevant, debated subject both then and now. His non-comment on the matter is important. |
