You have been exposed to way too much misinformation. People over the age of 70, who were the most at-risk of covid death, have been safer in Florida than basically anywhere else. Do the research, do the math. It's plain obvious if you dare to see it. |

To the one who said Florida was normal during Covid and they enjoyed going, no it wasn't. I know someone who was living in an assisted living home, which was a popular reason to move to Florida, who was locked up and they could not even go beyond their door of their suite... this all ran this for almost 18 months. They had to have meals dropped off and retrieved at their door. Imagine closing your life like this. Perhaps while you got to enjoy and take a chance spreading Covid, many were left behind and simply ignored. Same goes for the shots, testing, unemployment, actual death counts, students who had serious health issues.
And heck, I want to know more about when he was a teacher and partied with his students. Maybe it was rosy for those who live in places like "The Villages" but many who I know were really mad and even as Republicans swore off DeSantis. |
False, false and false. Folks, where do you get your "news"? Just think of this: if what PP says was true, do you think Floridians would have rewarded DeSantis with a massive, historic win? Nope. They voted him because he did a good job. Not perfect, but certainly better than the majority of other states. Paranoia is not your friend. |
I get how Florida is running straight up from family and friends who live there. |
What? Never saw do much careless disregard for at risk people as I saw in Florida. Did health care of workers even need to be vaccinated or masked? At least 2 different in vaxxed health care workers were sent to my elderly, cancer ridden, parents home and tried to enter my and work with them. I had to actually call and demand... of a so called " health care agency", that this was among the highest risk clients out there and don't you dare send another anti vaxxer to their home. Do ignorant and it came from the top leaders in the state. |
Unvaxxed* healthcare workers I meant. |
While Florida performed well against Covid early on, after the vaccine came out, Florida performed poorly with Covid compared to other states. Overall, they are the 12th highest in Covid deaths per million population. Compare this to Virginia (36th), MD (38th) and DC (46th). Florida is 7th highest in cases per million (Virginia is 45th, DC 47th, and MD 51st). I wouldn't exactly say they were safer in Florida than anywhere. |

| Way too much gaslighting from Florida Republicans. A lot of Florida was shut down or severely restricted during 2020 because there was a global pandemic. Florida cruise lines were among the first superspreaders responsible for spreading Covid around the country. Old people in Florida were protected because they all have Medicare and real doctors who advised them to isolate and to be vaccinated as soon as it was available. Florida avoided a big early surge because people stayed home. But in 2021, when being stupid became a Republican requirement, Florida had a big surge in cases and deaths because people refused free vaccines and basic public health measures. |
Please post this obvious research I am missing. |
It's a very simple division. Total Covid deaths/ people over the age of 70. Do this across all states or, to simplify, simply do the big ones: CA, TX, NY, PA, IL ... and contrast with FL. You'll learn a thing or two. |
Well, 1) I actually live in FL and 2) I actually have access to detailed public health data (like you do, if you cared to learn facts instead of playing the "telephone" game). |
Because stunts and political theater are effective leadership. Right… |
Remember that several counties around Tampa Bay had a sudden and severe surge in deaths by “senility” right at time Covid cases were surging. Florida also had a lot of extra “pneumonia” deaths with no other explanation, also in the middle of Covid case surges. |
Oh yeah the conspiracy theories. Tell us, where are the tens of thousands of undeclared corpses? |
