One of them is lying to me - the cleaners or the neighbor

OP thinks that the cleaners are smoking pot at 7:30 am but there’s no way that the very nice ex druggie next-door could be doing the same.

OP here Mexican cleaners are nice too. I just don't interact with them as much as I do with neighbors.

It's just hard to believe that the neighbor girl would be risking it with her family being at home this time of the morning. She could have waited a couple of hours when they left to work/school and smoked all she wanted to.

Honestly, I don't know what to think. People sometimes do the craziest things. I'm not taking anything off the table.

If she is an addict or former addict …do you think she cares about “waiting”.

Why do you care if they smoke weed? As long as they clean your house, MYOB. They are probably illegal, but pot isn't. Drop it.

This is funny. It’s okay to break the law and use illegal cleaners but don’t possibly break the law and smoke marijuana in the car. By the what it’s legal where I live. Not sure of where you live. I don’t do any sort of drugs by the way and do not support the use of marijuana even if it’s legal but you really has some nerve Op.

Again, for the 10th time. I don't care if someone smokes it. Just not at my house. I don't want any type of smoke near or at my house. It gets into walls.

Troll, you literally just said, "So the scenario where a young Mexican girl was smoking weed in her car with her friends is completely out of the question? Really?" So which is it? Smoking with her friends some other time or in your drive way?

I would have never confronted the cleaners and just said "thanks for the information" to the neighbor.

The OP has a curious disability that precludes smelling weed. She has to rely on the neighbor's daughter to detect it. Sound insane? It is.

Jeez, I'm sorry. Was I supposed to be sniffing my property thoroughly? I assumed my neighbor was telling the truth. Why would she lie?

She just saw two people drive up and decided this was convenient moment to blame them? Knowing I would probably let them go and they would never be back?

It doesn’t matter at this point. You need to find new housekeepers. Way to overreact OP.

Yes, idiot. Drug addicts lie.

??? She could be smoking that morning in the car with her mom, but that's doubtful or she could be smoking in the car without her mom and the car just smells. I was just trying to find out what happened exactly.
I told her I don't care if she smokes. It's legal in many states, soon to be legal nationally. Some of my friends smoke. I'm fine with it. Just no smoking near the house.

Also, the neighbor was on much harder drugs than weed.

Perfect summary. Don’t recall an OP as clueless as this.

The bottomless well of benefit of the doubt you have for this known drug user, simply because she is white and her parents are middle class, would be embarrassing even if it weren't so easily contrasted with how determined you are to believe that the cleaners who have worked for you for 5 years with no issues have all of a sudden become a mom and daughter travelling junkie duo, simply because they're Mexican (and maybe illegal, did I mention that? I've never asked but they might be! Illegal, that is. Because they're Mexican!).

You're gross.

No, this has nothing to do with her being white.
I suspect they're illegal because they're terrified of someone calling cops on them.

It would be very brave of the neighbor to draw attention to herself like this and create this drama if she is the one smoking. I wouldn't do it if I were her.

Are you kidding me? I’m not illegal. I was born here and I’m afraid of having the cops called on me. Please Op.

+1

Now you get to clean your own house. Oh well.

This.

Also, am I the only person who wouldn't care if my cleaners smoked in their car?

I would care but I’d take into account the source. The family whose child was a drug addict. Yeah I would’ve just installed a ring camera to see for myself.

100% Exactly what I was thinking.
And who texts someone to tell them what to do or not do on their own time. I hope the MEXICAN cleaners quit and sue you.

OP here. I doubt it. It was 7:30AM. Her mother and sister were in the house. You are saying she was smoking and then she told her mom out of the blue that it was the cleaners who conveniently just arrived?

You doubt she did it but believe your cleaners did. Are you serious?!

You had no evidence. It was stupid of you to accuse them as you did.

It's not just your neighbors who are racist. You clearly are, op. You should do some reflection.

I agree that Op should take a beat and do some reflection. Op feel free to ask the administrators to delete this thread and they will. Go reflect.

NP here. Yes. She is an addict. Addicts lie.

Whatever. Find a new cleaning service.
