One of them is lying to me - the cleaners or the neighbor

100% Exactly what I was thinking.
And who texts someone to tell them what to do or not do on their own time. I hope the MEXICAN cleaners quit and sue you.

OP here. I doubt it. It was 7:30AM. Her mother and sister were in the house. You are saying she was smoking and then she told her mom out of the blue that it was the cleaners who conveniently just arrived?

I was a bit of a problem teen back in the day. It is 100% believable that she was smoking at 7:30am with her mom and sister home, and when she saw the cleaners, used it as a preemptive excuse to blame the smell in case anyone else did. For all you know, the mom might have asked her about the smell first and was happy to believe the daughter's lie because she didn't want to believe the alternative that she was sliding back into problems.

+1 OP is racist AF and this was the last straw for the cleaners. OP you are an idiot and a terrible judge of character, and you can't even tell the story in a way that makes you sound sane when you have time to come up with explanations for your behavior. You don't want the smell that you couldn't smell at all to seep into your walls because a white druggie said the MEXICANS are dragging it around and so obviously you believe her? FOH.

No, you are racist. You're saying an American white girl can use drugs, but a Mexican girl the same age would never? Do you live under a rock?

Troll score 1/10. Try harder.

OP thinks that the cleaners are smoking pot at 7:30 am but there’s no way that the very nice ex druggie next-door could be doing the same.

Well yall, she does come from a nice middle class family where they just sweep that little mishap under the rug.

Yes, the DRUG ADDICT white girl is more likely to use drugs.

This OP. You were wrong to confront longtime cleaners on the accusations of a teenage (maybe former) drug user.

How do you know she's from Mexico?

OP here Mexican cleaners are nice too. I just don't interact with them as much as I do with neighbors.

It's just hard to believe that the neighbor girl would be risking it with her family being at home this time of the morning. She could have waited a couple of hours when they left to work/school and smoked all she wanted to.

Honestly, I don't know what to think. People sometimes do the craziest things. I'm not taking anything off the table.

Because she told me?

Noooo. We're telling you that the neighbor's daughter got caught, or almost caught smoking weed and lied to her mother and put it on your cleaners. And then your neighbor told you what her daughter had told her because she is likely in denial that her daughter or daughters are smoking weed.

In any case, I think the relationship with the cleaner is over not matter what really happened.

Why would do you care if the cleaners come to your house stoned as long as they do a good job?
Who the heck smokes weed with their parent? At work?

Why would the daughter lie about it unless she hid drugs in your garage to avoid her parents or was smoking weed in your garage and needed to cover up her lies?

Why even tell the cleaners unless you think your neighbor is a racist who is going to try to get them deported?

Why am I the A hole? Because I confronted them?
By the way, I have done a lot for them over the years and they're leaving because they worry the neighbors will call cops.

You hired cleaners illegally and now fault them for leaving due to your racist neighbors?

I still don't understand why you find it so hard to believe that a "former" drug addict would be using drugs in the morning in a "risky" situation where she might be caught. Do you know anything about how addiction works?

This.

Also, am I the only person who wouldn't care if my cleaners smoked in their car?

OP here. I don't care if they smoke, just not near my house or in the house. The smoke gets into walls, etc. Also, I don't want them to drive in this state either.

If you didn't smell anything, nothing is getting in your walls.

You've pointed out they are Mexican and potentially "illegal" (undocumented is the word) which makes me wonder if they have a point about the profiling. Given your neighbor's daughter's history, it would seem just as likely her reporting is where this all falls apart.

Also highly unlikely they are Mexican if you are in the DC area, you hateful, judgmental racist.

+1

OP, YATA. I would be very interested in your cleaners contact info, since they're apparently looking for new clients. If your house doesn't smell after they clean, why do you care what they do in their car, anyway?
