NP here. How could you possibly know this? Did she tell you personally? Have you seen her medical records? |
| Guys- it’s all bc of the crazy cult they belong to. Scientology is behind a lot of the crazy. Remember Tom Cruise and Oprah’s couch? It’s what I thought of immediately after Will sapped Chris Rock. I think the male celebrities are getting fed some weird effed up toxic masculinity BS in Scientology and the result is that possibly closeted gay men in relationships with women end up doing some strange stuff. |
He doesn’t get that he affected everyone watching. People did not come to the event or tune in expecting to see violence. |
+1 |
Cruise's sister, his newly appointed PR person at that point, was responsible for the couch jumping. |
Thank you. We aren’t defined by our worst moment in life or shouldn’t be. You’re the kind of person I could be friends with, not these other ‘perfect’ people on here. |
No, we are not defined by pur worst moments; but we should make sincere and immediate amends. Not just PR apologies. |
His apology the day after it happened was sincere. Also, we have no idea what he said to Chris Rock privately. |
After he received his Oscar and a standing ovation. Never mind that the other winners couldn't get the response they deserved for their hard work and efforts. Months later with a 35+ million paycheck in the works...needed to say a little more... |
His apology the day after was not sincere. He was talking about acting to defend his family. No one in his family was threatened. He is trying to rehab his image for his upcoming movie. I'm glad Chris Rock is not engaging with him. I think Will Smith's career will recover, but it is still too soon right now. He will need to lay low. He must have forgot he had another Oscar buzz movie coming out when he decided to be violent in front of an international audience. |
Did you actually read his apologies? He literally said he apologizes to the entire academy, everyone that was there, the producers and everyone around the world. He apologized to Chris's mother, he apologized for the shame he brought to his family, he apologized to everyone that worked with him on King Richard. He said he understands that the damage to his relationship with Chris' brother is permanently damaged. I'm beginning to think some of you all didn't even bother to really read and listen to what he said. I get it if you think what he did is unforgivable, but some of you guys are saying he should have said blah blah blah, when he actually did say blah blah blah. |
The entire apology was 4 paragraphs on how what he did was wrong, why it was wrong, and apologies to many poeple. he said why he did it in just a few words; it wasn't even one full sentence. Yet that's your only takeaway. He wasn't even defending himself, he was simply stating what caused him to react. He literally said it was inexcusable. I get it; no matter what he says or what he does it will never be enough. All that really matters is what Chris thinks. |

Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.
I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will So that part right there means the whole thing is insincere? |
PP here. I get what youre saying. I meant he and his PR people thought he should say more with his multi million dollar deal in the works. All that should have been said months ago. |
He should have left that out. That part is trying to justify his actions. The rest is great PR. He meant what he said in his acceptance speech. He partied that night, unbothered. His team saw the backlash the next day and pushed out the apology. His career is not over, but his new movie might need to go to streaming and if there are other stars in it, they should do the press. |
