| That doesen't make sense. She already talked about the slap on the Red Table Talk. |
Did you assault someone at a professional event? Cuz a lawyer would be disbarred. A dentist would lose patients and most of us would be fired. When you are in a position of great privilege you are supposed to behave. Not assaulting people is kind of a basic expectation of civilized, professional people. To whom Much is given, much is expected. |
+1 If a high svhool kid walked up on a stage and slapped a performer across the face, he/she certainly wouldn't be receiving an award and a standing ovation that night. The award (if given) would be done with no fanfare. Suspension would be swift. There should be no tolerance for violent behavior. |
Exactly this - she has traction alopecia, as do a lot of black women of her age, due to the way she styled her hair over the past 30 or so years. |
| It’s clear he wants this to be over because it’s impacting their bottom line, but Will can’t will this away. His ego says it’s been long enough and he should be afforded more good will based on his blemish free record over the past 30 years. Much like the straight A student who decides to let loose and receives a harsher punishment than the failing pothead, people just expect more from the “good guys”. The teacher thinks oh no not you too, we’ll make sure he never does that again! It’s unfair but he can’t simply decide “it’s been awhile”. Personally I think he should release movies and let the chips fall where they may. Avoid these silly press releases, the damage is done. The world will forget on their timetable not his. There’s nothing he can do to rush that process except to keep his mouth shut. |
If that is true, she could have helped other women by being honest about it. |
| Before the incident he had a vision that he was going to lose everything. His life as he knows it, his money, his career. |
He hit someone at the Oscars! He didn’t get in a fight in the parking lot of an In n Out burger! Do you not understand the fundamental difference. It doesn’t matt that he was well behaved before. These are grown people. They are never expected to hit people. |
| But what about the Scientology connection?!??? |
That didn’t happen, did it? I don’t call a $35 mil payday losing it all. |
They ruin everything. |
It did happen. He filmed an episode of My Next Guest with David Letterman months before the Oscar incident. He talked about a specific hallucination where he saw himself losing his money, his home, his fame; his whole life destroyed. |
No, I meant that he didn’t lose everything, not that he didn’t have a vision. |
Oh no. And I don't think the article I saw was trying to imply that. I'm sure he must have been terrified at some point, wondering if he'd just ruined his whole career. That must be similar to how he felt from his vision. It's like waking up from a bad dream and feeling startled and uneasy for a minute. And then incredibly thankful that it was not. I wonder if for a minute he thought he was living out his vision. I just thought it was an interesting observation. |
| I’m glad he didn’t permanently injure Chris Rock. That would have ended his career. I think he’ll be fine directing and starring in big films and, yes, he will continue being nominated for major awards and having an amazing life. These megastars are pretty untouchable as long as they are successful. I don’t think most of his fans care about whether he and Jada remain married as long as he is a good father to Willow and Jaden. |
