Why didn’t he do it at the ceremony? Because he clearly didn’t think he did anything wrong. I’ll never respect him again or watch another one of his movies.

This. It’s embarrassing.

+1. I felt embarrassed for our country. Will Smith acted horrendously on a world stage and embarrassed all Americans but especially us African Americans.

Such a classless move. I love how Rock is just refusing to engage in the whole p.r. spin.

I’ll never watch another movie of his. He’s trash.

I read all along that Chris Rock declined to press charges (even though it's not his decision), but now I'm reading that no one ever consulted him in any way.

They asked him, he said he was in a complete for right after it happened.

I have always viewed Will Smith as an over achiever a bit of a twat, and this incident just reinforced for me his detachment from reality, his entitlement, his total twattery.

+1. Done with him now. I can’t get that image of him out of my mind when I see him now.

He's still an arse and I'm disappointed in him, since before that I knew nothing about his personal habits and just assumed he was a rational person.

However I do understand, being married to someone with mental illness, that mental illness comes in many shapes and sizes, and sometimes the "invisible" ones are the ones that make their loved ones suffer most. A public slap is shocking, but if the rest of the time he's a decent human being, then he's not be quite as perturbed as my own husband...

He should have apologized to the other nominees and winners for hijacking the evening.

I have scarring alopecia and while I didn't know about Jada until that night, it was easy to look up posts that she had made earlier about her hair loss. While she doesn't seem to have total hair loss, alopecia areata is still difficult to deal with.

That doesn't have anything to do with Will Smith. However she deals with hair loss, or does not deal with it, his behavior at the Oscars is his behavior.

She has hair loss because she has worn extensions and tight ponytails for years. She does not have an autoimmune disease. Do you not understand that she is lying???

He apologized to Questlove who was receiving the award when the slap happened.
