DP - not clear how that is bashing Asians.... |
me either... -this is public information -getting into tj is supposed to be good right |
And What.Is.Your.Point? Did they refuse to admit your kid?
|
| The point is that unless Currie has their own rigorous admissions standards, the fact that they got 28% of the class proves that the test isn't objective |
No, maybe they have 1000 kids they prepped, and 10% of them got in. |
that's a terrible ROI for parents, given that their course is $5K - I REALLY doubt the number is that high |
it's not and their numbers are much better |
What’s not what |
I doubt it as well, but pointing out the logic is flawed. Getting 28% of the class says nothing without knowing how many students are they prepping. |
+1. We need to know what the denominator is to see if this is a significant number of admits or not. |
I think it's definitely a significant number almost regardless of what the denominator is. You're talking about nearly 30% of the school's population who has spent $5K for a program (to say nothing of what else they've paid for) that promises greater access. Based on how many of those were also admitted to AOS or AET, you're also talking about approximately 70% of the population of Loudoun kids who received offers. From ONE prep company. |
Sure. But that's for those parents to worry about. Why are you so concerned about it? Pick your argument. Are you implying that Curie is somehow "gaming" the admissions system or that Curie is not a good investment for parents? Or are you just keeping the Curie topic alive.. you know. beating a dead horse.. |
|
The Curie obsessed poster - Please call the FBI to investigate Curie. Or even Washington Post.
OR.. get a life. |
Essentially, it's either one or the other. It's either a poor investment or (more likely) it works and is therefore highly problematic. I'll agree that it's somewhat old news given that the exam is dead and highly unlikely to return - partially because of the information that Curie stupidly made public - but yeah, I'll keep bringing it up as long as people on this board continue to try to pass off standardized exam performance as "merit" and that such exams are "race-neutral". |
it ain't just one person who is going after curie, i promise |
