No one needs to investigate them. The damning information is already publicly available because they made it so.

Curie won't get punished for it, because they broke no laws.

Almost impossible to determine which kids furnished the questions from the secured exam for their question bank.

We (those who have sought to hold them accountable) got what we were after, which was for the exam to be eliminated so that families couldn't pay for privileged access to exam materials. The measures of Curie's effectiveness that they themselves published were a huge piece of evidence that the exam is a deeply flawed measure of student aptitude or achievement.

And now we want to ensure that it never happens again.

+1 theres no point to investigating them, the damage is done and one of their cash cows is gone and theyre partially to blame. alot of indian families will loose their best kept secret because of currie's actions.

I guess you don't know the definition of the word Secret.

Curie has been out there for anyone to attend, forever. I'm sure all the non-Indians did not want to go because there are "too many Indian kids" attending. Same reason why they would not have chosen to attend Sunshine Academy (predominantly Chinese kids).

Anyways, while your intentions may seen honorable, you have not proven anything in a court of law. If you were to make these allegations with your name attached to it, you would be slapped with a lawsuit so big, you won't know what hit you. I guess that's one of the reasons why are hiding behind the anonymity of these forums and keep bringing it up.

there's nothing about this that belongs in a court of law. and theyre not allegations - theyre facts provided by currie themselves. ppl like you are butthurt that those facts are being used against them in a public forum because you know that test prep is a dirty word now

what have they been 'accused' of?

Anonymous because of the information that Curie stupidly made public - but yeah, I'll keep bringing it up as long as people on this board continue to try to pass off standardized exam performance as "merit" and that such exams are "race-neutral". [/quote wrote:

Nothing stupid about it. They are trying to get people to sign up, so they are advertising their success. This is very common in India for schools to put up the names of who got seats in medical school that went to their prep school. They even pay money to top students to attend there just so they can put their name up as having got in. It's not 5K, but a 2 year prep, possibly in dorms.

I think it's definitely a significant number almost regardless of what the denominator is. You're talking about nearly 30% of the school's population who has spent $5K for a program (to say nothing of what else they've paid for) that promises greater access. Based on how many of those were also admitted to AOS or AET, you're also talking about approximately 70% of the population of Loudoun kids who received offers. From ONE prep company.

Before you said it was 28%, which you then elevated to 30%, which you then doubled? to get 70%.
28*2 is 56, and we don't know that they everyone was double accepted.

not pp, but do you know anything about TJ admissions? The kids were 28% of the total, but comprise 70% of Loudon admits when you toss in AOS and AET

Gotcha. I forgot this was a discussion of TJ, and thought you were saying the 28% were accepted to both AOS and AET.

My statistics were the ones that you cited. "28%" and "nearly 30%" are equivalent statements. Loudoun has historically had a cap of just under 100 students, and of the 133 TJ admits that they had listed for the Class of 2024, 67 of them had also been admitted to either AOS or AET, meaning that they were Loudoun residents. That's how you get to "approximately 70% of Loudoun offers". I apologize if my sentence construction was less than clear.

It's stupid because they killed their golden goose. The success that they made public was evidence used to eliminate the exam, which terminated their flagship program.

It strains credulity for this to be the reason why ZERO individuals of any other demographic were on the infamous lists that have been paraded around the halls of TJ. I can see it being the reason why many folks would avoid it - it is, after all, the reason why some racist families choose not to apply to TJ at all - but for it to be literally 100% smacks of something much darker.

So true.

While I think it's shifty that the prep class was considered a south asian "secret" (were other ethnic groups accepted/afforded opportunity to attend? is that legal?) I know for certain my white kid would also have been successful at getting accepted at TJ had he gone to school every saturday throughout his childhood to TJ prep. I did not suggest nor would I have suggested such a schedule as we have other priorities as a family on Saturdays and I don't attach any importance to TJ admission in my child's life.
