New TJ Lawsuit Filed 3/10/21 by Pacific Legal Foundation

It’s a public school. Funded with public funds. If they want a prestigious stem school, there are plenty private options that offer scholarships if needed.

The entitlement is what gets me. Th idea of lawsuits to get their way. I am a non Asian minority. I am not interested in getting my gifted children to apply or go that particular school.

All they are asking for is a merit-based, race-neutral admissions procedure. That is hardly "entitlement." The Asians are being discriminated against and I support them seeking equality (as opposed to equity).

Entitlement?! Asking for a race-neutral policy and a Superintendent that doesn’t call the school with a majority Asian population toxic? Talk about misfire.

Did you read the comments by Biden last week that "Indian-Americans were taking over the US"? He wasn't just talking about TJ.

The new process is race-neutral.

The whole revision was based on a goal of increasing the numbers of black and hispanic students. Just because they added a sentence in the motion saying the new plan is race-neutra doesn’t make it so.

Though, actually, the group that will increase the most from the changes are White students. Making Asians the ones with the most to lose is a major win for White people.

That wasn’t the first racially charged statement Biden has said about Indian Americans. But I see how you like to revel in it rather than call it out.

They are Indian AMERICANS. So they are Americans taking over America?

How about we thank them for their contributions to this country and not incite the white supremacists with more fodder for their hate, Mr. President?

Huh? Yeah, we should be proud. He was praising Indian-Americans . Like Harris, Dr. Mohan, and his speechwriter.

Only in the most superficial manner. The record is rather clear that they specifically wanted to reduce the percentage of Asian kids at TJ and it was presented for approval to the School Board with projections that indicated that, had it been in effect earlier, it would have done just that. If Brabrand didn’t expect us to stand up for ourselves he’s even dumber than we thought.

I don’t want to derail this thread. While I am way happier with anyone other than Trump, Biden uses racially charged language whenever he is ‘praising’ Indians. Comments regarding Indians and 7-11s, Indians and call centers in a mocking accent.. while this statement is supposedly praise, the language he uses gives fuel to white supremacists that already fear they are being ‘taken over’ by minorities.

He should have praised them by thanking them for their contributions to this country not saying they’re ‘taking over’. They are not the well connected, good ole boy, controlling power structure of this country.

While I think that TJ admission should be expanded, I think admission has to be fair.

The problem is that the Asians are being discriminated because the county is trying to hide the gross negligence it has done with minority elementary and middle schools. They have created a system where you have to rely on your own money to educate your children, because the public school is failing them. The Asian parents are probably feeling robed: they are supplementing their kids’ education and the county is basically saying: we will remove your goal. This actually could discourage a lot of kids who need intermediate goals in addition to their big goals.

We all know this isn't about who studies more. There were people actually cheating on the TJ exams and I wouldn't be surprised if there is widespread cheating in certain communities to get a leg up. There is nothing good about the way the old system worked. The new system sucks too but at least it gives a more even playing field.

28% of the class of 2024 came from one single prep company. 133 kids. That same company only had 50 kids admitted a year before.

Those Asian kids can’t possibly succeed unless they are cheating, right? This is the exact type of casual racism that the FCPS School Board engages in and the federal court needs to tackle head-on.

There is actual evidence of widespread cheating...
