You had a point until you got to white supremacists - you didn't connect this appropriately to the rest of your argument. What point are you trying to make? |

The original point of this thread was to highlight the lawsuits that have been on the books regarding TJ Admissions.
With decisions being released this evening, many of the complainants to that suit will no longer have stake in its outcome, as it's totally inconceivable that admissions decisions will be retroactively changed displacing admitted students. Indeed, several of the complainants will probably have their students admitted anyway. Hope all that money was worth it. A Trump-level grift if there ever was one. |
Your ability to weave "toxic" into any discussion and your expectation that people do anything for the betterment of society without some kind of advantage to them shows your mindset.. You are either a Liberal Arts baby that never really had to work for money or a moocher that wants to live off other people's work. Pro tip - No one does squat unless there's something in it for them. Betterment of society is a by product that flows from society's economic well being, not the other way around. |
I mean, there's some truth to this, because many people are genuinely motivated by improving the conditions around them for everyone's sake. My mindset is pretty simple. Choose a field (in my case education) that pays you enough to be able to enjoy life while providing value for others in a way that creates a genuine sense of fulfillment. I'm pretty happy and I have a tremendously positive impact on my environment and surroundings. Can you say the same? |
Not everyone espouses these views just d**bags. |
Nope. I firmly believe in capitalism, maximizing my wealth. However, I'm more than happy to pay taxes and ensure that everyone gets good wages to be able to live comfortably with one full-time job, pay teachers good salaries so the future generations are educated, etc. My ability to pay six figure taxes to fund society is what gives me fulfillment. |
Not everyone hides from reality, just cowards.
|
That's awesome and good for you! The rest of us genuinely appreciate your contributions - and wish that more people of significant means had your attitude with respect to paying your fair share. But you run aground when you assume everyone else either does or should have the same goals. = |
Then do something fit the most vulnerable group in our society, the Asian Americans. A society will be judged by how it treats its weakest group. |
Asian Americans - and especially the ones who are making the most noise with respect to TJ admissions - are nowhere CLOSE to the most vulnerable group in our society. Nowhere CLOSE. And honestly, you'd have to be completely disconnected from reality to believe that they are. |
You can mock, spit, kick and say racist things about Asians and nothing will happen. Can you do that about any other group? |
Yes. Literally any other group. Get your head out of the sand. |
Huh? Black people have been getting murdered with impunity for years. |
There is record of this happening over 600 years on US soil. |
And Asians except you won’t hear about it because media will not cover those. Get your head out of the sand. |
