The same should be said for parents, but just like Olympians, it's unfortunately not always the case. |
I agree. Rio is not the place for the olympics. |
| I haven't read anyone defending Lochte. Not one. |
Haven't you heard? If you think shakedowns are not okay, you must love Lochte. Once again, Lochte is an asshole who was in the wrong. Brazil ALSO handled it poorly. Rio is a crime ridden city where you are in danger on a regular basis. Three different statements. One doesn't negate the others. |
Exactly! Apparently some people are having serious difficulty understanding that all of these statements can be true. |
| Also, if you think anyone is calling Rio a hellhole solely based on this incident, you're crazy. In addition to the copious numbers of other incidents detailed upthread, basic statistics and news stories back it up. Rio sucking isn't some secret and no one is saying Brazil holds the only sucky city in the world. |

Even the swimmers involved don't seem to agree on what happened...

I'm not really surprised. It's kind of hard to remember details if you're that drunk. |
| So all this over a metal frame? Or, over a broken door and soap dish. Which one? If they couldn't get into the bathroom to begin with then maybe it was just the frame. |
The LA times article makes it sound like it was a poster - and like the footage to back up the swimmers (not Lochte's) account was snipped. |
| I still can not get over them holding that kid's passport until he coughed up 12 grand. Awful. |

Even worse:

| So the money that was extorted doesn't even go to like, feeding or housing the homeless. No no. $47k... To judo. Da hell. |
