Kate knocked this visit outta the park. Her clothes were amazing.

Oh my god - when Harry appeared around the corner so quietly and holding Archie who was silent but had his eyes open, I almost bawled.

So cute. So amazing seeing a royal Prince being an attentive father.

Their documentary just closed deals in seven countries. The idea of any other royal with this sort of reach is laughable. Not even the Queen.

ITN Productions for ITV has closed deals with Network 10 (Australia), TV2 (Denmark), RTL (Netherlands), Medialaan (Belgium), BBC Lifestyle (Africa and Poland) and TVNZ (New Zealand)

Seems like the tour was a fashion show. Seriously what is the point of these tours? To show off expensive clothing and jewelry? Why does the UK want these people traveling around like celebrities?

She’s playing to the camera about her personal life and emotions- welcoming the press and public in.

So, they’re basically celebrities? That means people follow them to see what they’re wearing...and there are people hoping they will fail, cheat, divorce, etc. That’s why people follow celebrities.

My question is what do the Brits get out of this? I mean, MM isn’t even British.

Harry basically confirmed there’s a rift with his brother during the interview. He said they are on different paths. Obviously! Will has all the pressure to sustain the monarchy. If he fails, then his little brother who thumbs his nose at tradition will be out of a job. I hope his wife realizes that.

Why does everyone forget that there's a King coming and his name starts with a C?

Will has about much pressure as a stay-at-home dad who larks about at the mommy-and-me gym classes (which he does).

Harry isn't thumbing his nose at tradition, he's doing a remarkable job taking on a lot of tours (3 in the past 12 months alone), founded a multi-national organization (Invictus), and supports the Queen whenever she calls on him.

He's the son of the future King and I think he realizes that in order to do his job properly he needs to take a stand.

The Royal Family is scrambling now that the world is calling them frauds.

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/meghan-markle-latest-senior-royals-have-tried-to-help-struggling-duchess-a4266666.html

Senior sources admitted that the Royal Household, with all its formalities, can appear “daunting” but said that both the Queen and Prince Charles had made efforts to include Meghan.

It really isn’t that hard. You can do THREE car appearances with a pedophile in a single summer, you can release a statement denying Kate had Botox, you can reward family members with undeserved orders.

It would be the simplest thing to release a picture hugging Meghan and a statement warning off the rabid press.

Weeeeell, they did.

Maybe you think it was ineffective or inauthentic or something?

?

We know Charles goes first.

But Will has been raised with the knowledge, burden and responsibility of having significance that Harry simply doesn’t.

Reports confirmed W and H are separating their charity precisely bc Will’s forthcoming role as heir.

I think Harry has become quite tiresome. He definitely hasn’t embraced his privilege let alone the responsibility. He just takes. And whines.

Guess what? Will’s mother died, too.

Think about it--
Everyone admires the Queen, but how much does anyone really know about her? We know she likes corgis, horses, and. . . .? She has never talked about her likes, dislikes, complaints, etc. She deliberately masks her opinions and personality in public life. Have you ever heard her give a speech--even after 70+ years of speaking, she still reads in a flat schoolgirl voice. That mask of boring respectability allows her to have a private life since the impression is that there isn't much for the press to talk about. In a few years, when Kate's looks have faded, she'll cease to be the center of attention, and she and William will have completely settled down into a respectable uncontroversial public face, and a more-or-less normal private life with their children and a handful of discreet friends.

Harry and Megan, though, are more like Diana was and not hiding their emotions and passions. This makes them much more interesting to the press and public. It can be a valuable way of approaching the job, since it does bring more attention to their causes. However, it also means that they are in the spotlight and the lines between their personal lives and public lives get very blurred.

In an ideal world, the royal family could have public lives where they pursue and promote their causes and interests, and then have private lives that the press and public have no access to. But the reality is that they need to make a choice. And then not complain, since there is nothing more off-putting than someone who has every luxury in the world complaining about their lot in life--especially if they married into it.

I think The Queen’s popularity has a lot to do with her age at this point. Same way Charles is growing more popular as he reaches his senior years. I don’t think they were so admired playing the “smarter game” when they were middle aged and the same will happen for William and Kate.

Agree. Even without the gossip industry being what it is today people knew all about Philip’s numerous affairs when she was younger. That’s not much of a private life. Shows like The Crown, even if fictionalized, are getting their source material from some contemporaneous rumors. Also....the queen is not considered inoffensive and boring...just look at the Boris Johnson fiasco. Not sure what type of salacious details you are expecting from a nonagenarian.

You also can’t have it both ways. People on here will say “Kate is learning from the mistakes of QEII by not working as much and focusing on her young children!” And then will say “Kate is emulating the Queen!” Only time will tell what the best approach is. Unlike Kate people really don’t have the ability to call the Queen lazy. But at least half of her kids seem terrible (adulterer/gaslighter, pedophile). So maybe Kate truly is making a better choice.

Seriously. Shut up H and M. If life is so hard for you, then stop trying to garner as much attention as possible all the time. Just go live quietly in the country and show up for royal weddings. Geez.

+1 I mean they have this documentary out that’s supposed to shine a light on really important issues in Africa - violence against women, education for girls and somehow it’s all about poor them? They seem to bring each other down - Harry has gotten way more paranoid about the press since he met her - and she has just focused on how much of a victim she is...

She has an enormously rabid fan base, as evinced by the obsessed stand in here that Defend her tooth and nail against even the slightest negative comment. Why doesn’t she bask in that adoration and ignore the haters? All public figures have people that don’t like them - it’s part of the package.

This. I can’t believe she was complaining on tv about how hard it is for her, being so vulnerable and no one asking how she’s feeling.
