Disappointed in Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton, however, is a sore disappointment as far as public figures go. First, she graduates from a great university and an excellent secondary education and spends her time....partying with the princes and hopping in and out of cards drunk and giggly. Her "job" is like, participating in charity rowing competitions sometimes. I'm not even expecting her to DO much work, especially since she was wealthy and did not need a source of income. I just wish she used her status and privileged and royal connections to stand up for something and contribute in a real way.

People made excuses for her saying she was in a difficult place dating William and needing to be low key until her marriage. Well, she got married and has done nothing of significance so far with her new found power and status. She makes a few appearances and spends the rest of the time doing nothing. SO LAZY.

She's a spoiled rich kid. She has never worked a day in her life. Her sole contribution to the world is sleeping with some guy and pumping out a few kids.

You just described my grandmother, it's called Old Money, get used to it.

Her occasional appearances and remarks will have a larger impact on the world than the average worker-bee's will just because she is a public figure. It sucks that some people are luckier than others, but she lucked out. What do you want her to do?

She's an educated woman who did nothing, except drink and party, for approximately 7 years until she convinced someone to put a ring on it.

The Middletons are not old money. Her parents are teachers who started a party supply company.

Wow you are dense, she married into it. Quit being jealous and find your own rich guy.

Not jealous. I just don't get the adulation of a woman who is essentially a prostitute. She traded her sexuality and fertility for cash. She is no different than a hooker.

I don't need to marry money, BTW. I made my own, like Kate's mother did. Kate should have been raised better.

Are you the same crazy person that posts all over any news article online that features Kate? Do you keep a photo of her on your dartboard?
My mother was born into money, married my wealthy father and pretty much just raised us kids. If you caller her a prostitute I would kick your teeth down your throat. She raised me and my two brothers. All of us are hard working people who contribute to society. Kate is raising good kids that will be much better than if they were being raised by absentee parents. It all evens out in the end. Take a breath OP, get a hobby and get some sleep.

Do all you Kate apologists seriously think it's okay to be the kind of person who accepts other human beings bowing and curtseying to you? Is it okay that the hereditary leaders of a major "democratic", economic and military power will be white and male for at least the next 50 years? That no one else -- no matter how smart or how capable -- can be head of state? Would you accept that? No Kennedy. No Carter. No Obama. No chance of your own child growing up to be president. Just century after century of a family that was the best at killing people and stealing land a thousand years ago.

Brave men better than any of us spilled their blood to get us away from that nonsense. Kate worked long and hard for 10 years to join that circus and that's everything you need to know about her.

And I do not envy any of them. There are literally thousands of SAHM's married to hedge funders, tech titans, etc who live a far more luxurious life and I could care less what they do or how they live because they are not being held up as role models when they're essentially mascots of a deeply undemocratic institution.

Please THINK about not just the person but the values you're defending and its effects on a society's class structure and aspirations and the message you're conveying to your own children.

For Pete's sake, the Queen/King are just figureheads! They are not running the commonwealth! They just show up to cut ribbons. Yep - I have no problem with the figurehead of a foreign country being white/male.

Also her grandmother-in-law, aka The Queen, has been rumored to have issued rules about what Kate can wear. Stockings, weighted hems on her skirts, no skirts hitting above the knee, and so on. It's probably no coincidence that her evening wear is not daring in the slightest. No amount of money would make me want to live under such scrutiny but yet also with so many restrictions.

Why does she listen to the Queen? What's the Queen going to do to her if she wears a dress without stockings or a skirt above the knee? Throw her in the Tower??

Re: dowdy nanny costume. Smart choice (looking at you, Jude Law and Ben Affleck, among others!).

OP you should check out celebitchy.com. The writers can't stand her or PW. Always posting English tabloid stories which talk about how lazy they are. Apparently British press MUCH harder on them than American.

I do. The whole thing is gross and indefensible in 2026.

She listens to the Queen because the Queen is her boss. Also because Catherine was having difficulty choosing appropriate-for-Royal-work clothes: how many times has her flimsy skirt gotten blown up by the wind and shown the world her ass? Enough that the Queen had to specify. The Queen also had to suggest that Kate wear her hair up because her constant fiddling with her sausage curls was unprofessional and distracting.

OP, pick on William. Whoever said the Royals didn't want another Diana is right, and since William is the most workshy of all the working royals, his wife will be made to be, too. And she should work more. She opted to become a royal - you don't get to be a SAHM in that business. You get out there and wield your handbag, to paraphrase Tina Brown

What really is she going to do? I appreciate that she is championing mental health issues in young people, but the other royals are equally as boring (except for Harry). People need to stop expecting her to be something she never will be.

Also Diana took on the harder issues - e.g. land mines - once she was separated from Charles and her kids were older.

Diana was also known to spend very little time with William and Harry as children. They were basically raised by nannies.

This isn't true. In fact, if it weren't for Diana, the boys would have been shipped off to boarding schools a lot younger like Charles.

Exactly. And when she was away from her children, it was to fulfill whatever royal duty she was booked for and I don't think she had much say about it, unlike Kate, apparently.

Nope. It's well-known those were photo ops with the kids. She spent very little time with them. It was the way she was raised. Kate was not raised that way and Prunce William repeatedly has said how much he lives Kate's family and spends much time-holidays, dinners, hanging out. Grandma Carole stayed with Kate after births to help out.

Kate is required to make State appearances so has a nanny to watch kids while she does just that.

And these are the same women that attack working moms here in the states. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The only thing that makes him remotely interesting is his long, devoted relationship to Kate and wanting to have a "normal" family-centered life. This is a huge departure for the British royals.

How about his long devoted "friendship" with Jecca Craig? He seems to be following in the family footsteps.
