Exactly.  And when she was away from her children, it was to fulfill whatever royal duty she was booked for and I don't think she had much say about it, unlike Kate, apparently.

Nope.  It's well-known those were photo ops with the kids.  She spent very little time with them.  It was the way she was raised.  Kate was not raised that way and Prunce William repeatedly has said how much he lives Kate's family and spends much time-holidays, dinners, hanging out.  Grandma Carole stayed with Kate after births to help out.

Kate is required to make State appearances so has a nanny to watch kids while she does just that.
