Disappointed in Kate Middleton

What really is she going to do? I appreciate that she is championing mental health issues in young people, but the other royals are equally as boring (except for Harry). People need to stop expecting her to be something she never will be.

Also Diana took on the harder issues - e.g. land mines - once she was separated from Charles and her kids were older.

Diana was also known to spend very little time with William and Harry as children. They were basically raised by nannies.

Both William and Kate have stated they want to give their kids a normal upbringing and raise them themselves. They seem to be doing that--with choice of preschool and the grandparent involvement.

I work, but when my kids were in the infant and toddler stage I cut way back. She has a toddler and an infant.

I actually have seen she is involved in lots of state appearances and charity work.

This isn't true. In fact, if it weren't for Diana, the boys would have been shipped off to boarding schools a lot younger like Charles.

OP - are you the same poster who was troubled by the fact that Nancy Reagan was called a “devoted wife?”
Does it trouble you when women have loving relationships with their spouses?

I would give her some time. In 5 years she's gotten married and had two young kids with some pretty difficult pregnancies. When her kids are a bit older and she's come into her own in her late 30s/early 40s, I think she might do some more substantial work. I think she values being a normal mother for her children as much as possible while they're young. I essentially view her no differently than any other mother who chose to stay home with their children when they were little and return to the work force when the youngest reaches school age.

I would not want her "job". Ever. Imagine being scrutinized by random anonymous posters about how she dresses, how she looks, how disappointed people are with her. No thank you.

+1, that is her job and role in life.

Kate Middleton, however, is a sore disappointment as far as public figures go. First, she graduates from a great university and an excellent secondary education and spends her time....partying with the princes and hopping in and out of cards drunk and giggly. Her "job" is like, participating in charity rowing competitions sometimes. I'm not even expecting her to DO much work, especially since she was wealthy and did not need a source of income. I just wish she used her status and privileged and royal connections to stand up for something and contribute in a real way.

People made excuses for her saying she was in a difficult place dating William and needing to be low key until her marriage. Well, she got married and has done nothing of significance so far with her new found power and status. She makes a few appearances and spends the rest of the time doing nothing. SO LAZY.

She's raising two children.
What job is more important than that??
Over the top outsourcing would be lazy.

Seems like she's got a great gig to me. Besides, she's pretty young and has plenty of time to do other things after her children are grown a bit, if that's what she chooses. If not, that's cool, too.

Exactly. And when she was away from her children, it was to fulfill whatever royal duty she was booked for and I don't think she had much say about it, unlike Kate, apparently.

Also her grandmother-in-law, aka The Queen, has been rumored to have issued rules about what Kate can wear. Stockings, weighted hems on her skirts, no skirts hitting above the knee, and so on. It's probably no coincidence that her evening wear is not daring in the slightest. No amount of money would make me want to live under such scrutiny but yet also with so many restrictions.

She is doing fine and she will come into her own just like Diana did. In fact, I think she's starting off far more poised than Diana did. Just wait.

It definitely helps that Kate is more than 10 years older than Diana was at this point.

Just wait till the old bag croaks! It'll be halter tops and jean shorts every day.

And is educated.

OP, Kate doesn't care what you think.
