I understand it is no crime to fall in love and want to have your man's babies. Especially if the man in question happens to be the future King of England. Kate Middleton, however, is a sore disappointment as far as public figures go. First, she graduates from a great university and an excellent secondary education and spends her time....partying with the princes and hopping in and out of cards drunk and giggly. Her "job" is like, participating in charity rowing competitions sometimes. I'm not even expecting her to DO much work, especially since she was wealthy and did not need a source of income. I just wish she used her status and privileged and royal connections to stand up for something and contribute in a real way.
People made excuses for her saying she was in a difficult place dating William and needing to be low key until her marriage. Well, she got married and has done nothing of significance so far with her new found power and status. She makes a few appearances and spends the rest of the time doing nothing. SO LAZY. |
| Why on earth do you care? |
| Her job was to produce an heir and a spare, which she did. |
+1. |
| So she wants to live a low-key charmed life. So what? Not everyone wants to be or is going to be a big public figure/inspiration. Let her live her life. |
| She is doing her job- bringing attention to charities and developing her own. That's what Royals do. She also has 2 young children. Give her a second. |
|
Leave Kate alone. The British Monarchy is a dowdy, charismatic free institution. Always has been save for the few years of Diana. They don't want another Diana. They want dowdiness or something safe.
What really is she going to do? I appreciate that she is championing mental health issues in young people, but the other royals are equally as boring (except for Harry). People need to stop expecting her to be something she never will be. |

HUH?
|
| OP sounds jealous. |
Also Diana took on the harder issues - e.g. land mines - once she was separated from Charles and her kids were older. |
| Did you think she was going to work for Deloitte or something? |
|
Wow OP. What do you expect? She lives w/in the confines of the kingdom. Like others have said ... the Royals don't want another Diana stealing their thunder.
Kate does do charity stuff and also helps British businesses...everything she or her kids wear is sold out. I'm sure all of the businesses she benefits greatly appreciate it. Her kids are under 5 and she's likely to have another. Give her a few years until all of the kids are in boarding school. She is likely to do more then. And, you'll probably complain that she shouldn't send her kids off to boarding school. |

She's a young woman with young children and she is in the public eye a lot. I disagree that she's not doing anything. Every time I turn around someone is posting a new picture of her on DCUM with (often) a bitchy comment or two to go along with it (she's soooo tired looking).
She is doing fine and she will come into her own just like Diana did. In fact, I think she's starting off far more poised than Diana did. Just wait. |
| OP, what are you doing to better the world? Do you work oth? |
Yes, this was the primary job. OP, British royalty aren't supposed to take splashy stances on things. The Queen enjoys 90% approval ratings, primarily b/c she's never given a press interview and doesn't express public opinions on anything even though she's reigned nearly 65 years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personality_and_image_of_Queen_Elizabeth_II This is the only way the monarchy will survive. William and Kate know this. |
