OP here. I want to hear more about what he’s doing right! I get it, the media loves to talk about his eschewing of Covid guidance, Martha vineyard stunts, and the theater of his “dont say gay” bill—but these are the “culture war” type things. I’m hoping to learn more about the positives ways he’s improved life for the people of his state.

LOL there is not one positive that is absurd.

This is dictator DeSantis.

Not sure where you have been OP but only idiots in Florida are happy that over 100,000 people. That number is most likely closer to 500,000. People are still dying. But sure DeSantis loves his subjects.

Does he have a private police force? WHY?
He has instructed teachers in the worst possible ways. Most are frightened. Not like schools in Florida were ever good. And the privates are even worse. Not everyone can afford to just quit.

Look at DeSantis's private life the bible thumpers love him even though he cheats on his wife (yeah he bought his of a shiny range rover with taxpayer monies a month ago). Casey had cancer during covid she was not "allowed to mask"

DeSantis and Florida will die a slow death. He will never be president.

Good luck with the war on women in Florida. Not only is he coming for a Full Abortion Ban it will be horrific with contraceptives no condoms even. Prayer in public schools and evangelicals good luck with that he has decided Catholicism is the new region of Florida. Yep fact. He is modeling it after SCOTUS. Not like that is not a common denominator in those crap holes.

There you have it OP move to Florida go ahead crime is awful, cost are crazy high and can not. get insurance homeowners or otherwise so ....... Average cost of electricity in a 2000 square foot home $350 per month at min.

Ladies Ronnie has decided women should not work so by to women-owned businesses and jobs. Don't believe me LOL fun times. My family is old Florida they know things.

OP why don't you donate to Casey's new fund... raise your kids there so they can be barfoot and pregnant age 10. OPPS FLORIDA'S CONSTITUTION HAS A SURPRISE FOR DESANTIS LOL

Absolute crazy town. With trolls like ^^ representing Democrats, it’s no wonder more and more people are running from this party. I feel sorry for the rubes who actually believe any of this garbage.

OP, if you're serious, here are some pointers.

Which other Governor...

Focused on protecting the elderly from Day 1 (the opposite of Cuomo)

Kept schools safely open most of 2021-2022, improving the lives of thousands of kids and their parents.

Prevented the massive riots that took place in so many other states, protecting the lives of an untold number of minorities.

Treated adults like adults, so that for example they could open and visit, safely, shops and restaurants.

Let's not forget this:

CS/CS/HB 741 adds religion as a protected class with regard to discrimination against students and employees in Florida’s K-20 public education system. The bill requires a public K-20 educational institution to treat discrimination by students or employees or resulting from institutional policies motivated by anti-Semitism in an identical manner to discrimination motivated by race.

The bill also adds a definition of anti-Semitism similar to the definition adopted by the U.S. Department of State’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, providing that “anti-Semitism” is a certain perception of Jewish people, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jewish people, rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism directed toward a person, his or her property, or toward Jewish community institutions or religious facilities.

“I’m proud to sign this bill to make clear through a bipartisan effort that anti-Semitism has no place in our state and our educational institutions will not tolerate discrimination against the Jewish people,” said Governor DeSantis. “I was especially proud to hold a ceremonial bill signing in Jerusalem. Florida is the most Israel-friendly state in the country and as long as I’m Governor, we will continue to stand with the Jewish community.”

https://www.flgov.com/2019/05/31/governor-ron-desantis-signs-anti-semitism-protections-bill-cs-cs-hb-741/

But sure, DeSantis is *totally* an anti-Semite.

Well, yeah. I do want more.
As I said in the original post, I’m aware of what he’s known for in the media; you reference his handling of Covid, which we all know is centered around his strategy of basically carrying on with normal life. I guess that made life better for the kids and families who went to school and work every day, but I go back and forth on just how much credit someone should get for essentially eschewing cautionary measures and touting that ONLY 85k died under their watch. Who’s to say that’s a good number? It’s still very high.

Also, I just think it’s odd how he ties his Covid strategy to “freedom,” yet he scoffed at those college kids who chose to wear masks at one of his events and mocked it as “theater”—freedom means you can wear a mask if you want.

But we get it. Lots of people liked the stance he took on Covid. I can’t elect someone based on Covid, nor can I elect them because they own libs. I don’t care about political theater. The spirit of my post is more about producing results and I welcome Floridians to enlighten me on the benefits we don’t hear about in the media.

Now, he boasts about a surplus from the all the interest they got from not giving money to residents. I know a lot of people in the hospitality industry that ended up losing their homes.

He also refuses to do anything about the insurance crisis. It is mostly the litigation from roofers that is tanking the industry, not hurricanes. The legislature could do something about this, but the won’t.

This is the complete opposite of what I experienced.

You have health insurance, and didn’t need to shell out hundreds of dollars to get a doctor’s note for an early vaccine? Must be nice.

How much did you have to pay for the vaccine and which type did you receive? How much did you pay for subsequent vaccines and boosters? I can provide a contact who can reimburse you.

It was requiring a note from a doctor for the high risk people that was costly. My brother, who is high risk, just waited. The place where he worked closed for several months, and he didn’t have money to get the note that allowed him to get the vaccine. He never was able to access the unemployment system, either.

I got laid off during COVID and tried to apply for unemployment and the process was so confusing and difficult that I gave up. Luckily found more work fairly quickly, but I can't imagine I am the only one who went without earned benefits because of a difficult - on purpose - process.

The early days of getting the jab were also very confusing and difficult. My spouse is high risk, and we heard a rumor that you should call Publix every night just before closing to see if anyone had any leftover shots. That's how we got him jabbed in the beginning. Of course his rich white donors were prioritized early on.

Now of course it's the opposite problem since DeSantis was so discouraging about vaxxes,

He's really a p o excrement.

It might be better for you to move to a state like New York which did a better job handling the vaccines and unemployment.

Or, Florida could elect someone who actually cared about Floridians.

Is this some kind of hideous joke?

He lied about Covid data and Florida has the highest rate of senior deaths. He had a dangerous surgeon general. Both made it entirely political.

I would never retire there with sky high housing costs. The restrictions on immigration make it tough to get things done around the house. My MIL has waited a year to get her driveway done. They can’t get yard workers. No thanks!
