Why? From 2016 to 2020, the number of minorities that voted for Trump *increased*. That means the more they heard him, the more they liked him. He lost white votes and that's why he lost. It's kind of gross and paternalistic to say that your perception about what Muslims want is better than the Muslim community's own perceptions. They are perfectly capable of looking at their choices and selecting the best one for them. And Biden’s choices speak for themselves about the kinds of beliefs and lifestyles he promotes, and the kinds of beliefs and lifestyles he wants to subvert. You may recall his speech, surrounded by dark shadows and bathed in a blood red light, about how we must choose because half of the country wants to "take America backwards." The trouble is, many Americans DO think America had better days and that going back to a time of values and cohesion would be a good thing. And, Islam in particular has a major sect that thinks that the past, particularly the Prophet Mohammed, should serve as an example for the present. There's really no space for this kind of traditionalism in the new left. |
I am completely baffled at all of you who believe that if Trump were in power right now that he wouldn’t have told Bibi to bring out the nukes and level Gaza. Trump wouldn’t be doing anything better or more measured and thoughtful than what is going on now.
If Trump is elected, who is going to work for him? There are few if any competent people willing to work for this clown. I shudder to think at what will happen to the U.S. if he gets re-elected. I am sick to my stomach thinking that there are so many of you out there. Full disclosure, I’m Jewish. The Jewish community does not wish harm on the Palestinian people. They need to eradicate Hamas. Please tell me all of you armchair military experts, how would you handle this attack? Israel suffered the worst attack on its people since the Holocaust annd anll of you expect them to just take it without responding. Israel is attacked and it is their own fault. Israel would love to live in peace. If Hamas would lay down their arms, there would be peace. If Israel laid down their arms, there would be no more Israel. |
I don't believe Trump would handle this situation better. I do believe there would be a high, if not certain, likelihood that we would not be in this position. I said very early on that I believe this was likely due to Biden restarting the Abraham Accords and you all thought that was nuts. We now know for certain that this was indeed about the Abraham Accords. Trump orchestrated the Abraham Accords to strengthen Saudi Arabia, create a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and to therefore weaken Iran. This came after he reversed the JCPOA. Biden came in after campaigning on weakening Saudi Arabia, and he immediately sought to isolate Saudi Arabia and warm US-Iran relationships. Iran is famously a terror state with hit men actively seeking to assassinate several of the key architects of the Abraham Accords. They also killed Sulaimani, the leader of Hezballah, but they significantly were also the drafters of the AA. So we have Obama with JCPOA. Then Trump with AA. Then Biden with neither but a lot of trash talk against Saudi Arabia and a commitment to restore Iran relationships. Well, it turns our that Iran does nothing for us but try to kill our troops and allies and take our money. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is key to oil markets and was also leading a detente between Sunni Arab nations and Israel. So then mid-way, Biden makes *another* about face and tries to go back to the policies Trump pursued in the region-- backing off his demented friendship with the terror state Iran and restarting the Abraham Accords. Hamas is an Iran proxy and Palestine is an Iran client state. So of course, they punish Biden (surely not their only motivation, but part of it) by unleashing a horrific attack and pulling him into yet another war-- knowing full well that military interventions are not popular with US voters at the moment. And that the Afghanistan withdrawal didn't play well for Biden. I was a fan of Obama, voted for him twice. But this whipsaw between supporting Sunni Arab states and then supporting Iran- first every 4 years, now every 2 years!--is absolutely disastrous for both our credibility and our ability to keep peace in the region. People who want us to pour money into Palestine are NOT THINKING THROUGH the effects of strengthening Iran's influence in the region. And people who think it's fine for us to be hot and cold in the middle east every 4 years, or to completely reverse our foreign policy goals twice in a single 4 year administration, really don't understand how diplomacy works. At all. So yeah, Trump would have stayed the course with Saudi Arabia and Israel. He would have built on it to isolate Iran. And Iran likely would have been playing defense instead of what they are doing now. |
North Gaza is uninhabitable now that it have been reduced to rumble. Trump could tell Bibi to nuke the area but Bibi would not. It is too close to Israel and would produce too much fall out for Israel. That is the only reason Bibi has not done it. Biden would not stop Bibi from nuking the Palestinians. Biden said he was a Zionist. He puts Israel first. |
What a disgustingly bigoted statement. Because they should vote for an administration that degrades and dehumanizes them and willfully disregards its constitutional duty to save their lives in favor of the military objectives of a thug state. |
I have to assume "bring out the nukes" is similar to the "ongoing genocide". Meaning, it's just hyperbolic language not meant to be taken literally. Or the people saying these things weren't educated past 4th grade, or their brains have been methed to mush, because it's completely nonsensical. |
I, for one, adore it when progressives emphasize the need to uphold the constitution. |
+1. If trump was president right now, there would be a “peace in the Middle East” task force comprised of one Jared Kushner. |
Biden proposed a more creative solution, nuke them slowly. The bombs deployed in Gaza so far are the equivalent of 2 nuclear bombs. |
Can we see your bomb to nuclear bomb conversion chart? |
You sound so stupid when you exaggerate like this. It’s not helping you. People here know more about what nuclear bombs do than you think. Trumps policies and support of Bibi is arguably why this is all happening. |
Certainly is. Turns out that undermining the PA and pretending the Palestinians don’t exist while doing the Abraham accords has bad consequences. |
It’s arguments in bad faith like this which make it impossible to be lectured about how we have to save the country from Trump. Criticism of how Israel responds, criticism of what behavior the U.S. endorses, is not the same as expecting “no response”. I have seen arguments for allowing civilians to evacuate, more precision targeting of Hamas, never one argument for Israel to do nothing. Those arguments also come from the rest of the world by the way. There are more than 3000 dead Palestinian children. Children— not Hamas. Not terrorists. And questioning U.S. leadership right now and demanding higher standards is what makes you sick? Trump is the President you deserve. |
Agree. I didn’t support Trump then and I don’t now. But I also don’t support the whack job left that wants to give Israel back to the Palestinians. Nope. Not happening. Two state solution or bust, and we must find a way to pressure Israel to stop illegal settlements. |
Speaking of bad faith, hamas routinely lies about the numbers of dead Palestinians. So we cannot have any confidence in the number of supposed dead children. |
