I am completely baffled at all of you who believe that if Trump were in power right now that he wouldn’t have told Bibi to bring out the nukes and level Gaza. Trump wouldn’t be doing anything better or more measured and thoughtful than what is going on now. If Trump is elected, who is going to work for him? There are few if any competent people willing to work for this clown. I shudder to think at what will happen to the U.S. if he gets re-elected. I am sick to my stomach thinking that there are so many of you out there. Full disclosure, I’m Jewish. The Jewish community does not wish harm on the Palestinian people. They need to eradicate Hamas. Please tell me all of you armchair military experts, how would you handle this attack? Israel suffered the worst attack on its people since the Holocaust annd anll of you expect them to just take it without responding. Israel is attacked and it is their own fault. Israel would love to live in peace. If Hamas would lay down their arms, there would be peace. If Israel laid down their arms, there would be no more Israel.
I don't believe Trump would handle this situation better. I do believe there would be a high, if not certain, likelihood that we would not be in this position. I said very early on that I believe this was likely due to Biden restarting the Abraham Accords and you all thought that was nuts. We now know for certain that this was indeed about the Abraham Accords. Trump orchestrated the Abraham Accords to strengthen Saudi Arabia, create a peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel, and to therefore weaken Iran. This came after he reversed the JCPOA. Biden came in after campaigning on weakening Saudi Arabia, and he immediately sought to isolate Saudi Arabia and warm US-Iran relationships. Iran is famously a terror state with hit men actively seeking to assassinate several of the key architects of the Abraham Accords. They also killed Sulaimani, the leader of Hezballah, but they significantly were also the drafters of the AA. So we have Obama with JCPOA. Then Trump with AA. Then Biden with neither but a lot of trash talk against Saudi Arabia and a commitment to restore Iran relationships. Well, it turns our that Iran does nothing for us but try to kill our troops and allies and take our money. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, is key to oil markets and was also leading a detente between Sunni Arab nations and Israel. So then mid-way, Biden makes *another* about face and tries to go back to the policies Trump pursued in the region-- backing off his demented friendship with the terror state Iran and restarting the Abraham Accords. Hamas is an Iran proxy and Palestine is an Iran client state. So of course, they punish Biden (surely not their only motivation, but part of it) by unleashing a horrific attack and pulling him into yet another war-- knowing full well that military interventions are not popular with US voters at the moment. And that the Afghanistan withdrawal didn't play well for Biden. I was a fan of Obama, voted for him twice. But this whipsaw between supporting Sunni Arab states and then supporting Iran- first every 4 years, now every 2 years!--is absolutely disastrous for both our credibility and our ability to keep peace in the region. People who want us to pour money into Palestine are NOT THINKING THROUGH the effects of strengthening Iran's influence in the region. And people who think it's fine for us to be hot and cold in the middle east every 4 years, or to completely reverse our foreign policy goals twice in a single 4 year administration, really don't understand how diplomacy works. At all. So yeah, Trump would have stayed the course with Saudi Arabia and Israel. He would have built on it to isolate Iran. And Iran likely would have been playing defense instead of what they are doing now.
