It wasn't an armed robbery. The security guard was trying to control the situation with 4 massive men who were at the gas station to use the bathroom NOT to buy gas. They weren't even customers. Feign and Bentz are both 6 feet 5 inches, Conger is 6 feet 4 inches and Lochte is 6 feet 2 inches. And all of them have huge muscles. They were wild and drunk. They gas station owner could have called the police and they all could have gotten arrested for disorderly conduct and vandalism. Instead they said pay us for the damage. They didn't take their wallets, jewelry, or phone. Imagine if 4 drunk massive brazilians were destroying a bathroom gas station in the US and the security guard pulled out a gun. No one would blink an eye. |
Except in his interview he completely fabricated the entire story! He didn't mention being shitfaced at a gas station, pissing on a wall and someone demanding money afterwards, he said they were pulled over, ordered to the ground and he was the only one who refused. Anyone with half a brain knows that you don't 'refuse' robbers armed with guns in a foreign country. Oh, and that was an armed robbery, it was an extortion - which they could have fought except they knew they'd screwed up, and that's why they paid up and got out of there. |
Not true at all. The outrage would be huge. |
I seriously am loving how dumb you are. Do you understand that the swimmers don't have access to the unaired video footage, any more than you or I do? Why would they? Let me know if you need me to walk you through this. ^^so you have personal knowledge of what their lawyers are privy to? I didn't think so. You have major anger issues. |
If you're a grown man approached by the media minutes/hours after the State Dept/IOC says -- don't speak -- why on earth would you speak? Why wouldn't you say "no comments" or "no interviews at this time," even if you have to be rude to the media?? Michael Phelps just did it upon his return to Phoenix and got downright standoffish with a reporter screaming out questions and said -- I'm not taking questions right now, if you want an interview, call my agent. Ryan's an attention seeker, plain and simple. As for being held at gunpoint and demanded cash -- eh. They knew where they were. This is how things are settled in the developing world. Didn't they realize that? Did they think they were at their friendly Exxon in Rockville or Charlotte where any disagreement would lead to the police being called?? |

No way was this an "armed robbery" and the swimmers were not in the right at any point.
Nowhere in America can you to a bar or convenience store, cause damage and then demand to be allowed to leave without making restitution or waiting for the police. |
Being forced to give up all your money at gunpoint is robbery. Period. ^^You really do sound like an 8 year old boy playing cops and robbers. Many on this thread, including myself are actual lawyers. The simplistic, aggressive people on here defending this fool--smh |
I haven't seen any proof or disorderly conduct or vandalism. But Ive sure seen proof of an armed robbery |
|
Dude thinks that if he keeps screaming "it was an armed robbery" it makes it true in spite of all facts to the contrary. smh
This is why we can't have nice things, sheeple. |
|
But would you describe it as an armed robbery?
|
DP. There really aren't any facts to the contrary, just missing facts. There are three minutes missing in the video the Brazilian officials put out. In it, you see the men sitting in the car with several uniformed people standing around looking at them. Then [three mintues later] you see them getting out of the car with their wallets out, one of them puts his hands up, and they're walking off camera. If what happened in those three minutes were really the way things should be handled in a case of vandalism, why wouldn't Brazilian officials want us to see it? |
Here's the video that points out the changing time stamp: http://m.tmz.com/#article/2016/08/18/ryan-lochte-robbery-lie-rio/ |

Armed robbery would be someone who did not belong on the premises walking up with a gun demanding cash while they were doing who knows what out back of that gas station. They had no business being there as long as they were simply to use the restroom. They made no purchases while there.
This is a security guard who belonged on the premises asking for payment for damages .. Now how much this payment should have been is up for discussion and borders on extortion. But it ain't armed robbery. Stores stop shoplifters on a regular basis and demand that they wait for cops to arrive, do not leave the premises with stolen merchandise, etc... Again, even if it's an armed guard stopping you at Kohls and demanding you pay for what you were stealing, it is not armed robbery. |
So if you stray off the sideway onto my grass I can pull a gun on you and demand money without it being an armed robbery, simple because I belong here and you don't? That doesn't make any sense. |
| Well sir, they did more than merely trespass. Lochte ripped a door off its hinges and threw it to the ground. They vandalized the bathroom. It's there on the videotape. You should search it up and watch it. |
