Churchill beats The Heights 7-6.

Nice. Are there any other MoCo publics playing privates this season? How are they doing?

The Heights is a much better team than that result would indicate. They won just about every face off & had the ball a lot. Churchill got a few unsettled goals on turnovers and on man up situations. Churchill's goalie is really good and had a sharp game & that made a big difference.

The Heights has a few standout of players, with a strong coaching staff. They just don't have the ability to win the close games. To wit, consecutive one goal losses to Albans and Churchill.

I agree. The problem is they do not have the depth as a smaller school to hang with the larger programs. Thus, the reason they lose close games.

And Landon stole their goalie and they had to train somebody who never played goalie.

You can't steal someone that doesn't want to leave.

Potomac School 7 St Alban's 6

Potomac has been playing well this year, but I was expecting St Alban's to win this one. Does St Alban's have injuries/suspensions or is Potomac just better?

Landon Severn game Tuesday may determine top team in DC Annapolis. Bullis will have a say too

Panthers played better that day. Obviously. We had the superior FOGO and our defense swallowed up STAs attackmen, who were also missing slam dunk goals and making a lot of unforced errors. There looked to be a few injured players not suited up, but my son said none were starters. Maybe STA will get their act together next time. But yesterday's loss was well deserved.

Big IAC v. WCAC matchup on Tuesday (Prep v. Gonzaga). Prep is realistically 1 - 2 years away from being a top national contender (lots of young talent and incoming talent). Gonzaga is strong but not quite like last year. Any thoughts?

Your right I fixed my post

why would anyone want to play for the Heights. Their best returning player transferred out to Saint Andrews school.

I thought STA was going to contend this year in the IAC, given the roster has several upper classmen. A loss to the Potomac School? Really?

Potomac has had a steadily improving program for a few years now. The ex-football coach headmaster is very focused on athletics and likes the helmet sports (lacrosse also fits the demographic). The days of the IAC teams automatically winning against all other DC-area schools, public or private, are long gone. It sounds like a one-goal game in which Potomac played the better game and St. Albans left some potential goals on the table. I'm sure St. Albans would like to have it back but it also sounds like Potomac has some strong players and is no fluke. It's not 1995 anymore (and the differences in lacrosse are the least of it).

Potomac beat STA, but Episcopal beat Potomac 9-4, which is a pretty decisive score. Potomac plays SSSA on Tuesday.

1 and 2 against the IAC doesn't seem all that much different from 1995 0r 2005.

STA is definitely NOT a contender, they are no better than previous years (which is terrible). All the noise about them on here is coming from dilutional STA parents. How can you go from not winning a single IAC game to being a contender. They haven't done anything this year, they beat Flint Hill by 3, what a turnaround for the program!!!
