How did shelter at home change your workout and weight

super sad, I had just gotten back into a regular exercise routine--orange theory twice a week--and held it for about 3 months. First real regular exercise since last kid was born 3 years ago.

And now I've fallen off again. But still try to get out for a jog twice a week and do some yoga/short exercise videos at home. Weight has not changed but have lost a lot of muscle.

I go to the gym 5x a week. Warm up on stair master and do heavy weights. I’m lucky I have a garage gym setup that keeps me functional - cable tower, benches, squat rack, barbell and plates, the standing chair tower you do ab stuff on, pull up bar, dumbbells, Swiss ball, bands, etc. Atill, it’s not the same. Can’t go as heavy and don’t have all the machines and pre loaded bars which I really love. Been trying to mix things up... did two barre workouts which were intense, a full body routine with body weight only with difficult moves, a HIIT workout with a weight vest on. I’m doing dine. Definitely maintaining but feeling like I don’t have that “I’m getting stronger every single day!” boost I had at the gym that kept me going and pushing every workout.

Pre-covid, had been losing a pound a week and was 6 lbs away from goal weight (Started post-holidays at 142 with a goal of 125). Since lockdown, my weight loss has slowed to a crawl, I’ve managed about another 2 lbs lost, but it’s hard to say for sure due to day-to-day fluctuations. Working out the same, normally I do a mix of running and classes, I’ve just had to replace in-person classes with online ones. Still getting my runs in, though I really don’t like being on the trails now. My eating is about the same.

The reason I’ve slowed way down in the weight loss is 2 things- 1) I’m drinking more. Instead of 2-3 drinks a week now it’s around 7-10. Second, moving less. It’s hard to make up the loss of normal, daily movement when you’re stuck in the house 23 hours a day.

I was doing well for the first couple of weeks but have gained a few pounds over the last 2 weeks.... I need to stop eating so much but it's comforting to me. I also was doing some great workout tapes but seem to be just walking. I woke up this morning and decided to change my ways- so cutting back on carbs and going to do FIT tapes.

I lost 6 pounds in the first 3 weeks - decreased appetite from stress and lots of walking.

Then I went on an Easter candy binge so the weight loss stopped.

I have been unable to do my regular (3-4x/wk) workouts w/ a partner and have a very hard time motivating myself to exercise alone. So I am thinking that next week she and I will start our basement workouts again. Two people, six feet apart, both of whom have been fairly well quarantining for more than a month is a risk I'm willing to take for the mental and physical health benefits of getting my workout routine back on track.

Nothing has changed significantly in terms of exercise...I've always worked out at home. I may be going for more walks outside than usual, but that's about it.

No idea about weight as I don't use a scale. My clothes don't fit any differently, though, so I assume no major changes there.

me too. I generally eat pretty healthy but my job in normal times is such that I eat out a couple times a week and also eat out when I travel for work.

I have walked outside for years. I prefer to go at my own pace and clear my head, listen to the birds, smell nature.

Since everyone is now walking outside, I decided to give my body a month off while the parents of little ones got their kids out on family bike rides and strolls around the neighborhood (cute to see). Right about now, I would imagine that some of the folks who took up walking (and especially jogging/running) are now dealing with shin splints and plantars fasciitis because I'm seeing fewer folks out and about. Maybe the novelty has simply worn off. I'm going to resume my normal routine I think.

Proud to say, I’ve lost about 12 lbs since Feb ( so a bit before quarantine) . I was also diagnosed with hypertension at that time. So a compete change in diet and exercise for me. I am now in a healthy weight range and changing “ exercise” from only walking to treadmill and stationary bike ( so increase in heart rate has really helped. I guess I thought that stuff would never happen to me, but I was so naive/ ill informed to think that. Crazy time to have that realization.

I gained 8 lbs. I usually run, swim, and do fast/hard gym workouts. Running is difficult because it’s too crowded to social distance. The hardest thing is that I used to have time to workout and cook while my kid was at preschool. Now I have to keep him quiet while DH takes critical calls in our small house and do his virtual school with him (too little to logon or work solo). DH works late into the night so I’ve tried to do online workouts after kid bedtime but I don’t have the mental discipline to workout hard at home at night after an uninterrupted day of cooking/childcare/shushing. I’m depressed and embarrassed about it, especially when friends are posting about Peloton bike weight loss and long-distance runs.
