What's your secret weapon "non recipe"

I used to use apple cider vinegar, but lately like it with rice wine vinegar, sometimes I use lime juice instead. Sprinkle either pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds and get on top and you're done. I guess it's similar to the OP's salad in that everyone is surprised at how good such a simple salad can be and no one thinks of making a salad entirely of purple cabbage. If you want, you can add sliced oranges too or red onion, or whatever herbs you might have on hand.

OP here.. And obviously a fan of the single ingredient salad. I've never thought of doing this with red cabbage, but DH loves the stuff. I think this will be on rotation this week thanks for the idea!

21:57 here. I actually saw this salad in Real Simple magazine a while back and have made lots of variations on it. It is surprisingly good, and also really good for you!

OP, do you grate the carrots with a box grater or do you shred them with a food processor? Do you ever use the bagged Trader Joes shredded carrots for your recipe?

Slice and bake chocolate chip cookies, made slightly larger than I'd normally do. Cool. Scoop chocolate chip ice cream in between two cookies. Wrap in waxed paper. Freeze. I've made these for neighborhood parties and these are always a huge hit. If you are really pressed for time, buy bakery (soft) chocolate chip cookies. If you have extra time, roll finished sandwich through a bowl of sprinkles before wrapping.[/quo

Buttery cookies - which brand, please share.

Pillsbury slice and bake dough!

Or, if you have the time, Betty Crocker choc chip cookie mix (make it with oil, not butter)

She did.

Nope: "Of course I never give out the recipe because now it's my secret dish."

Umm.. OP here.

Maybe you got confused on the comprehension, because my secret recipe is carrots with herbs? Then again, it is a non recipe so it's easy to miss.

My definition of recipe just differs from yours, I guess. To me a recipe includes quantities and specific ingredients. You offered a description of your dish, not a recipe. That's your right, obviously, but they aren't the same thing.

Hence the title of the post?

I suppose it's also your right to be cranky and difficult on a lighthearted thread. It's also my right to say have a wonderful evening, even if you're not really interested in participating in this thread other than pointing out semantics I, for one, have already gotten some great ideas.

NP here and you are the one being difficult. And rude.

2 bags of Dole frozen mixed fruit thawed

1 can of lite pears with juice

2 bananas, sliced

One can of condensed milk.

Mix together, refrigerate, serve cold. Tastes like fruity ice cream.

+1 herbs didn't count for a recipe. Thanks for finally sharing but now you ruined it. If I ever see shredded carrot salad or make it I always think of what a snot you are.

S'more bark. Crush up a box of graham crackers. Melt 2 bags of chocolate chips. Stir in 3/4 of the graham crackers and 3/4 bag of mini marshmallows. Spoon out on sheet pan covered with wax paper. Press remaining graham crackers and mini marshmallows on top. Refrigerate for a few hours, then cut into pieces. I usually make it for kid centered events but adults are usually the ones who eat most of it.

This sounds really good!

I make this bean dip that is so easy and always a hit:

Spread a brick or container of softened cream cheese (I used reduced fat) onto the bottom of a pyrex dish.

Open a can of refried beans (pinto or black bean, I prefer pinto and vegetarian style) and spread on top of the cream cheese (layering style).

Cover the top of the beans with grated cheddar cheese.

Open a small jar or can of sliced jalepenos and decorate the top of the bean/cheese mixture.

Bake at 350 for an hour until hot and bubbly. Serve with tortilla chips.

Great for super bowl parties.

It's delicious. Plus you can make all different kinds of bark. Crush up candy canes in the holiday season, crush up potato chips or pretzels to make it sweet/salty. Oreo bark is also delicious. So easy and such a crowd pleaser.

Disagree. PP is the one being difficult. The whole point of this thread is "non-recipes".

In a similar vein, frozen meatballs with 1 bottle heinz chili sauce and 1 jar grape or raspberry preserves (for some reason the raspberry seeds make people think it's some fancy recipe). Cook in crockpot and serve with cocktail toothpicks.
