What's your secret weapon "non recipe"

Well, post that list!!

Fresh cilantro
Fresh parsley
Garlic
Cumin
Dash of cayenne pepper
Red pepper flakes
Red wine vinegar
Olive oil
Sea salt depending on your taste preference

You can make it in a blender, food processor, or with an immersion blender.

I prefer the food processor. Blender is the hardest one to use.

These recipes sound kind of creepy to me. My mom used to make that carrot salad. It would just sit there until we scraped it into the trash.

Then feel free not to make it or eat it or participate.

I line muffin tins with wrappers. Put 1 tbsp of cooked (microwaved from frozen, squeezed water out) spinach. Crack egg on top. Top with stuff (differs every time- chopped bell pepper, chopped herbs, bacon bits, small bits of cheese, etc) grind some pepper and salt on top. Pop in oven 15-20 minutes at 375 ( my oven runs cool so 350 may do it). Serve up. Yum.

You can also scramble. I haven't down them that way so not sure of timing, etc.

My friend makes this -- the cat eats it every time.

It's a little frustrating for all the people who need specific recipes. There are tons out there to google, with lots of reviews. Maybe I'm just a confident chef, but I love to run with ideas.

My non recipe that I share on here a bit is my "Mediterranean chicken"-- brown some chicken (or chicken sausage) with some onion/garlic/shallot/whatever, add cooked pasta and then whatever you have for sundried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives, artichokes. For a broth, throw in a little pasta water/bouillon/spoon of pesto if you have it, or wine if you want, and then a spoon of alfredo/sour cream or dash of cream or 1/2 and 1/2.

I always keep these things stocked from TJs so can put this together quite easily!

Pooh.., this sounds divine! I love chicken and olives together, but for some reason never actually cook them together!

My pantry is well stocked.. May muster this up for dinner tomorrow! It'll have to be plain yogurt for the cream though, but sure that will work out just fine

Yes! Plain yogurt will be perfect. I never think of that because we don't ever have it. Enjoy your chicken with olives. I forgot to add-- a sprinkle of feta cheese if you have it and like that flavor!

This sounds tasty! Being Canadian hatched, this isn't in. My repertoire, but could quickly see becoming a favourite!

Broccoli slaw - Mix mayonnaise with a bag of broccoli slaw mix until it's moistened, add a couple of splashes of cider vinegar, and then a few handfuls of dried cranberries and cashew halves

I wanted something new for DD's first bday party and went for some marinated chicken. It went CRAZY fast and everyone was hounding me for the recipe.

Cut chicken into 1" pieces (or whatever size you want for kebabs)
Marinade:
Olive Oil
Honey
S/P
Garlic (we love garlic so I add several cloves)
Fresh chopped oregano

Put cut chicken into gallon bag (I normally do 1-2 pounds of chicken per bag). Add about 1/2 c of oil, 1/8 cup of honey, 1 tsp salt, 1/2tsp pepper, 2 cloves of garlic, 1tbsp fresh oregano per pound of chicken. Marinade overnight, skewer the following day (we normally skewer with peppers and pineapple). Huge hit and so easy.

I also make lemon cookies which are a box of lemon cake mixed with 1 8oz defrosted cool whip. I forget the baking times, but it's all over pinterest.

Thank you pp. A question: do you have to strip the herbs off the stems? Or can you just stuff the whole bunch into food processor?

Sounds like a church potluck dish that Elder Beatrice always brings but only the octogenarian set eat. Same for the dreadful carrot salad.

Anonymous wrote:OP, like another PP, I was a little bothered by your description of just "herbs," when changing the herbs could change it enormously. It helped when you wrote out later that you just used whatever you have on hand. (though I imagine some herbs might not work so well, so cooking-challenged PPs may get in trouble)

My shredded carrot salad is even simpler... just mayonnaise and fresh squeezed lemon juice.

I agree.

Haha, my kids love it. And it's healthy, dear.

Rice Krispy treats. Everyone oohs and ahhs when I serve them on my Granny's 80 year old silver platter. But only I know the truth!!!!!!
