She did.

Nope: "Of course I never give out the recipe because now it's my secret dish."

Umm.. OP here.

Maybe you got confused on the comprehension, because my secret recipe is carrots with herbs? Then again, it is a non recipe so it's easy to miss.

My definition of recipe just differs from yours, I guess. To me a recipe includes quantities and specific ingredients. You offered a description of your dish, not a recipe. That's your right, obviously, but they aren't the same thing.

Hence the title of the post?

I suppose it's also your right to be cranky and difficult on a lighthearted thread. It's also my right to say have a wonderful evening, even if you're not really interested in participating in this thread other than pointing out semantics I, for one, have already gotten some great ideas.

NP here and you are the one being difficult. And rude.

+1 herbs didn't count for a recipe. Thanks for finally sharing but now you ruined it. If I ever see shredded carrot salad or make it I always think of what a snot you are.

New Poster.
I agree. What a great thread even though OP is a total loser.

Sounds so silly, but -- make your favorite brownie recipe. A few minutes before they're done, lay (unwrapped, natch) peppermint patties over the whole surface, return to oven for the last few minutes, then spread the melted patties while they're hot.

Never fails to amuse and impress folks. It's especially good over a deep, dark, rich brownie.

Yum. Makes me think of childhood. Or cream cheese with jalapeño pepper on top, served with triscuits. So good!

Jalapeño jelly!

Toast slices of good rustic bread. Cut avocado and either smash or slice. Spread/place avocado on top of bread. Sprinkle salt and pepper. (I sprinkle red pepper flakes, but it's optional). Drizzle olive oil.
Good for snacks and tastes so good!

Love. You can do the same with ricotta cheese instead of avocado. Soooo good

Quartered cherry tomatoes, salt/pepper, 2 cloves fresh thinly sliced garlic or garlic powder, 1 TBS olive oil, couple tablespoon chopped fresh basil.

For home (guests or just us)

Cinnamon Bow-ties

Can of biscuits (I like the flakey ones)
Melted butter
Mixture of cinnamon and sugar

Separate the biscuits, poke a hole, twist so they look like a bow tie. Dip one side in melted butter, then dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place on cookie sheet and bake according to the package.

For parties

Mexican layer Dip

Mix 1 cup Mayo, 1 cup sour cream and a packet of Taco Seasoning (best if made the night before, but several hours is okay)

In a 9x13 casserole dish, spread refried beans on bottom, spread taco mixture on top, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, then chopped tomatoes, chopped green onions, minced black olives (optional), chopped green chilies (optional)
Serve with tortilla chips.

Copied from a restaurant flatbread, so can't take credit: toast slices of french bread, spread ricotta, add a piece of deli ham and a dollop of store-bought pesto. Delicious appetizer, and always a huge hit.

My friends here always request my gooey-butter cake, something that was at every potluck where I grew up in the midwest. I can make it by heart at this point - yellow cake mix plus one stick of softened butter and 2 eggs. Mix together and press into the bottom of a 9x13. Then mix one brick of cream cheese with 2 cups of powdered sugar and 2 eggs. Pour that over the top and bake in 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Such a crowd pleaser and so easy.

I do this except use Andes Mint Chocolates.

OMG, this is so good and I know it because we do the same thing. For fancy parties, we do one extra step that people for some reason always think is super sophisticated. You pulse some pistachios in the food processor to smallish pieces, and sprinkle on top. For some reason that combo drives people wild.

I use a drizzle of wegman's balsamic glaze on top. Also, if I feel like it I add smoked salt or thin slices of heirloom tomato (or both).

Peach cobbler:

Dump two cans of peaches with syrup into a 9x13 baking dish

Dump one box yellow cake mix on top. Spread but leave lumpy

Slice one stick of real butter into tiny, toast sized slices. Place slices of butter evenly on top of cake mix

Bake in a 375 oven until golden and bubbly. When it starts to smell good it is just about finished

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Delicious and easy perfect bbq desert.

Another variation of this--grate some lemon zest on top. It gives it such a fresh aroma and so delicious.

Dulce De Leche-

Boil a can of sweetened condensed milk for 2-3 hours (making sure to turn the can and refill the water) and then cool and store in your fridge.

When you need a fancy dessert (especially if berries are in season!) You can whip up some fresh whipped cream but instead of adding sugar you add the caramelized sweetened condensed milk. It will give it a golden look and it is so delicious- best dessert topping you will ever have!

A block of cream cheese spread in an 8x8 glass pan. Dump a jar of pizza sauce on top. Sprinkle with a thin layer of mozzarella cheese and throw it in the microwave until the cheeze melts. Serve with triscuits.

Yum.

this sounds awful!

This sounds awful but it is actually pretty good. The cream cheese tastes more like ricotta with the pizza sauce. We serve it with the Fritos scoops and add sliced pepperoni on top.
