He has a 70% approval rating in the state of Florida so he’s doing something right. Time will tell
OP here. I want to hear more about what he’s doing right! I get it, the media loves to talk about his eschewing of Covid guidance, Martha vineyard stunts, and the theater of his “dont say gay” bill—but these are the “culture war” type things. I’m hoping to learn more about the positives ways he’s improved life for the people of his state.
OP, if you're serious, here are some pointers. Which other Governor... Focused on protecting the elderly from Day 1 (the opposite of Cuomo) Kept schools safely open most of 2021-2022, improving the lives of thousands of kids and their parents. Prevented the massive riots that took place in so many other states, protecting the lives of an untold number of minorities. Treated adults like adults, so that for example they could open and visit, safely, shops and restaurants. Want more?
+100 Let's not forget this: CS/CS/HB 741 adds religion as a protected class with regard to discrimination against students and employees in Florida’s K-20 public education system. The bill requires a public K-20 educational institution to treat discrimination by students or employees or resulting from institutional policies motivated by anti-Semitism in an identical manner to discrimination motivated by race. The bill also adds a definition of anti-Semitism similar to the definition adopted by the U.S. Department of State’s Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, providing that “anti-Semitism” is a certain perception of Jewish people, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jewish people, rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism directed toward a person, his or her property, or toward Jewish community institutions or religious facilities. “I’m proud to sign this bill to make clear through a bipartisan effort that anti-Semitism has no place in our state and our educational institutions will not tolerate discrimination against the Jewish people,” said Governor DeSantis. “I was especially proud to hold a ceremonial bill signing in Jerusalem. Florida is the most Israel-friendly state in the country and as long as I’m Governor, we will continue to stand with the Jewish community.” https://www.flgov.com/2019/05/31/governor-ron-desantis-signs-anti-semitism-protections-bill-cs-cs-hb-741/ But sure, DeSantis is *totally* an anti-Semite.
Uh yeah, many of us don’t think his support of Israel is a good thing.
