If you support Arizona - Don't be too quick to judge an illegal 'alien'

So, you have a different opinion than me and that makes me an Ass? How very mature of you!! I'm an immigrant and it was always important to me to do it the legal way. If some people don't have that moral, thats fine. But being illegal brings problems with it and crying about it later won't make much of a difference. It is what it is. I'm not saying it was easy and I went through hell with families sponsoring my visa and abusing me. But I decided it was worth it, and I now have a green card.

Just because people have different opinion, doesn't really make anyone right or wrong, and it certainly doesn't make anyone an ass. If you can't join into a discussion without starting to call people names because they have a different view on things, then don't. People will always have a different views and I'm sure you're decent enough not to call people names on the street for disagreeing with you (at least I hope so), so why would you do it here??

Karma is a bitch if you are!!

you're just avoiding to address the issue.
PP's father didn't chose to be here illegally. his parents put him in this situation so he had no choice.
i would completely agree with you if you were talking about people that chose to be here illegally but in this case that's not what happened.

What happens if you illegally enter North Korea?

Isn't that what Lisa Ling's sister did? The answer is nothing fun.

What happens if you are caught illegally entering and/or staying your visa welcome in Canada or Mexico.

Not true, my BIL got his fiancee over her from the EU with the help of an immigration lawyer. She was in France at the time, not in the US. The immigration lawyer helped with the visa applications and other paper work. So maybe 23:28 does know have an idea?

Funny, the pilgrims came to America illegally too. Frankly we all should be deported based on our nation's historical foundings.

i think what PP meant to say is that immigration lawyers can only help who has the intent to come and live as an immigrant. there are several different ways to enter the country legally without the need to immigrate and IL are useless in such cases.

The pilgrims cam to "The New World"; there was no United States of America in 1612.

Same PP corecting date. Pilgrims arrived in 1620 and there was no USA at that time, either.

During the civil war here in the US some folks running from the war asked for asylum in my country in SA. We opened our arms to you guys giving you jobs, land, a welcome parade and lots of opportunity. no questions asked.

Today, as we speak, my mom is crying back there and I'm crying over here because I cannot go there nor can she come over here to see me and meet her first grandchild.

Not even mentioning the fact that we tried to follow the legal means and were mocked and humiliated by your employees responsible for "screening" candidates applying for visas.

*sigh*

vent done. now back to the discussion:

I wonder what kind of directions and training AZ government is giving to their everyday officers to address this specific issue. What kind of "people" they're looking for? a specific accent? hair/skin color? how can such profiling be really fair and random?

Why can you not go there? Will your country not give you a visa? Seems you should be upset with the country not allowing you to visit.

If I wanted to up and move to Ecuador, can I just do so? Or Finland? Or Thailand? Does anyone know?

No you can't. Many countries have laws that are much more strict than ours, but the US is held to a different standard. There are not many countries that have birthright citizenship. And I don't necessarily think that we do is bad. But is more relaxed than many other places. I work with almost no Americans currently. They have all immigrated here in the last 10 years legally and went on to become citizens. I think it's great.

I don't need a visa to go back to my own country, that's silly!!!

I'm about to give birth, that's why I can't travel right now; also, with the kind of visa I have right now, if I leave the US I'm not allowed back in less than 2 years.
My husband is also under a visa so he's not allowed to leave the US or he loses his job and has to be sent to his own country. He was in my country less than 6mo ago so he's not even allowed in my country for the next 8 months.
Sounds confusing huh? I understand that such laws are all over the globe to protect citizens but they are not foul proof and they end up causing more trouble than actually serving their purpose to protect the country's boundaries.

Honestly, I'm about to say that immigration laws are messed up all around the world. This is just really plain sad.

This immigration mess is our fault. We need to own it and fix it. Fixing this problem doesn't require uprooting families but rather providing a means to live in the light while we secure our borders and provide sustainable, realistic solutions.

I am really curious of how AZ will define a person who is suspect of being an 'illegal alien.'

Does anyone on this board know what criterion they plan to use to identify 'illegal aliens.' I am so concerned because I cannot imagine how to identify people without profiling and stereotyping. No matter what your opinion on immigration, I think we can all agree that we are better than that.

How about "someone who has entered the USA illegally"? Why should a means to live be provided to people who have broken our laws? Charity begins at home and we should take care of American citizens first and providing "a means to live" for these citizens who have been hit so hard by this economic downturn. The US is not the panacea of this world.

Anyone who comes here illegally knows there are serious consequences and being deported (sometimes after having been jailed) is the major consequence.

"Families being uprooted." How many American families were uprooted by Katrina, loss of jobs, homes? We need to take care of our own American citizens first, foremost, and always. I have zero sympathy or empathy for illegal aliens. They should be deported and the sooner the better. Without them taking jobs under the table then these same employers would be forced to offer a living wage with health benefits, pay employer taxes, to US citizens.

Illegals use resources intended for US citizens--medical, housing, schools, and all social services. I'm sick of paying taxes to support criminals and when you enter this country illegally, you are a criminal.
