I would have DeMatha in your HM field over the Heights.

DeMatha is always tough out for any team.

Heights need to actually get a quality W!

My son is interested in trying out for the Hawks this summer. We live in SS so it would be a haul. Can anyone give advice on Hogan and his program?

1. Gonzaga - a huge school, always has the numbers to re-load. Well coached!
2. Bullis - rumors that a few marquee transfers are leaving the school after this year as are are some of the DCE coaches. Bulldogs could easily drop further.
3. GP - we have been hearing for years how strong this 2019 class is, will this be the year GP finally gets back into the IAC Championship? Always has the athletes but coaching is suspect
4. SJC - Kevin Plank is pouring money into SJC lacrosse program similar to what they have been doing for football. Look for the CADETS to have several studs from Annapolis on their roster next Spring
5. Landon - end of the Bordley era! Will be interesting to see how Landon performs next Spring without Epstein leading the offense. Bears graduated a strong senior class. Always well coached.
6. Paul VI - fresh off a VISSA state title and WCAC runner-up, expect the Panthers to contend again for a WCAC title. Despite losing strong senior class, PVI is super athletic in always in the "hunt"
7. SS/SA - graduate a deep and talented senior class. It will be a rebuilding year in Alexandria next Spring. Still have the best FOGO in the region
8. Bishop O'Connell - Coach Giblin is now in his 3rd year, he has quietly built a foundation in Arlington. Look for the Knights to hang with some teams who they have not been able to compete with in the past.
9. Episcopal - rumors that the Maroon are bringing in some Canadian's next Fall to play some lacrosse. EHS returns most of their team from last season and their JV team was very strong.
10. STA - return their FOGO. Next Level connection is gradually paying off as a few more lacrosse players are ending up at STA. Lack the athletes will always hurt STA, very hard for them to contend with a full season in the IAC.

HM: (no order)
1. Churchill - play one of the schools mentioned above in this list!
2. The Heights - needs to play a tougher schedule!
3. Riverside - Leesburg school has some athletes and a flurry of D1 commits.
4. Robinson - largest public school in NOVA always re-loads.

This list ignores quite a bit of facts. Gonzaga loses its top two scorers. Top two by a mile. Going to be very difficult to maintain where they were this year. Prep loses its top two scorers with no one on the horizon behind them. Their 2019 class really consists of two of the best poles in the region - that's it. Landon has little coming up to replace its power houses (middie and attack) that graduate. Episcopal graduates it goalie and the only player on their team that competes at a high level. Bullis on the other hand returns just about everyone on offense and will be impossible to compete with. SSSAS loses its (2?) goalies, its attack going to Denver and a top pole and its fogo doesn't do well in big games (see Landon, Bullis and STA games for example - think he even got pulled in STA games two years in a row). DeMatha loses pretty much everyone. Will have athletes but they are losing all their best players O'Connell - seriously? They can't beat anyone. Coach no longer affiliated with CB so has no pipeline. Churchill, Robinson and Riverside would lose by 5 to Episcopal who has finished last in the IAC for the last several years. Bullis is the class of the IAC and will be number 1 by far in the All Met region. Rest of the IAC is a jump ball. Will be a down year in DC Lax.

Bullis talented players leaving?? Why would they after a great season?

Agree that it will be a down year overall. 2018 was such a deep and stellar class. The public schools are gaining ground steadily and some kids will elect to stay with the publics. I also think the change in recruiting rules has taken the wind out of the private schools and local club scene. Compare Madlax or VLC 2019 recruitment classes v 2018 or 2017. Numbers for 2019 are dramatically down.

Most of their stud players were transfers this off-season. Perhaps some of them never fully integrated with the school to begin with.

Which age group?

Each has their own "things" Hogan is around often, mostly at games..but does interact with the group, as does Cottle and many former Maryland players.

The traffic sucks, I will not lie, but is doable.

Every year teams lose top scorers and people get hysterical that it is the end of the line. But this year is no different really than any prior year. It is kinda the process, isn't it? Kids progress up through the ranks. Freshman play less and score less, sophomores play a little more and score a little more, on up the line. Usually seniors (and sometimes juniors) are the top scorers for their teams. And that makes sense because they get more playing time, they've had more experience, they are bigger, etc. There are some strong juniors and sophomores at all of the schools listed. It will all even out in the wash.

I generally agree with the above poster about the natural cycle of things. But the 2018s were just an extraordinary class. EHS loses the best player they’ve ever had. Landon loses the number one recruit in the country and a “supporting cast” that includes a Michigan and Terp recruit. Sssa graduates all 3 of their fantastic goalies, not to mention most of their offense. St Albans loses their entire defense and the offensive players who made things happen.

Not a Prep or Bullis booster. But I think Prep retains the best in class 2019s, and Bullis still has the first in class 2019. It’ll be a 2 horse race for the top of the IAC.

Well said regarding how exceptional this 2018 class was.

Epstein who has started for Landon since day , shattered Landon's all time goals and assists record by a wide margin (not an easy task given the number of players who have come out of that program). Jack Myers from Gonzaga has started for the Eagles since he was a freshman and became the Purple Eagles all time goal scorer.

If Bullis can keep their team in-tact they will be the clear cut favorite to not only win the IAC next Spring but be a top 10 national team.

Not sold on the Lil Hoyas, as someone pointed out earlier, they lose their top 2 point producers who have started for GP since they were sophomores. IAC second place will be up for grabs.

Agree that Bullis offense is loaded, but they lose their top two poles to graduation and ave limited depth below that. Prep had difficulty scoring against the top teams and losing their top two scorers (both attackman) does not help and they have had weak midfield play.

If my son’s goal is to play d3 lax, does he still need to play for a club to get recruited?

+1 Parents are realizing they don't need to spend all that time and treasure to get their kids into a D1 program.

Bullis had a great W last night against Texas power Episcopal Dallas in the Geico National Invitational.

GP loss to Culver Military but it appears the game was tighter than the final scored indicated.

St. Stephens loss to New England West national powerhouse, Salisbury by a half dozen.

Jack Starr starting in goal for Yale in NCAA Chamionship is representing STA like a boss.
