The obnoxious behavior of any group of parents becomes evident to the parents on the losing side of any game.

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I can say that I have been watching high school sports for quite some time and STA players and their parents have the best sportsmanship hands down. I have never heard one of their players talk crap to the other team. If they did it would be the last time they did it because they would be benched. Something I have always admired.

Very close game between two strong teams. In the end it was 11-9 Visi.

Epstein had a great game - 4 goals I think.

19 and 33 for Gonzaga had huge games.

Clearly, you have not been to any of their games this season then. I have seen one Varsity and one JV game and during both have witnessed an embarrassing level of bad sportsmanship. I doubt you have been down on the field with them, but I can promise you, they "talk crap" for sure. I realize all boys will do this, but this season in particular has not been the best in terms of sportsmanship and gentleman-like behavior. I was a parent of a player on that team, I would have a serious discussion with the new coach. He's not setting the right tone at all.

...and clearly, based off your expert observation of one game, where you were not on the field, we should take your criticism of a season or an entire program to heart. Seriously? Vacant addition to an already unproductive topic.

End of season matchups are coming up and maybe it will hit 75 degrees before the season ends, at least those topics matter to someone...

STA trash talks according to DS - they're no saints - they're teens running on adrenaline during games. STA's coach seems quite intense from across the field.

The new STA coach is doing things differently and it seems to be working. That said, half of the players never seem to see the field which is kind of sad and rather unusual at STA. Wouldn't it be better to just put those kids on JV so they at least play?

My son played recently against STA and said they were talking serious trash, but that is no different than any other team out there.

Some of the players on the sidelines are designated floaters - promising freshmen who play JV and suit up for varsity though rarely play. These floaters also play in Varsity B games, games against really good JV teams or against the players on opposing varsity who also don't see the field during games. Beyond the floaters, lots of guys on the sidelines who do not play in the games also play in Varsity B games. I think it's a nice idea and seems to be working.

I really can't hear what's going on in the field, so cannot speak to the players. I will say there are 1-2 loudmouth dads in the stands, but for the most part they are just screaming at their sons. The other dads just seem pretty quiet taking it all in. The moms cheer but it's usually something pretty generic like go blue. As lacrosse parents go, I'd say this group is very tame. Now WCAC parents on the other hand, don't get me started.
