| MAGA has suffer a huge defeat. Maybe some will enlist in the Russian Army…lol who are we kidding… not those cowards. |
| What about the EU and their dependence on “cheap” Russian gas? The factory closures have been brutal. I hope that rationing will not need to be put into effect. |
I think most people are aware that Russia has been messing with our elections and social cohesion and thus recognize Russia as our geopolitical foe. |
How's this looking now, OP? |
What social cohesion? |

OP here. Since you asked, I'm excited by the progress made by Ukraine and hope it continues, although my understanding is that liberating Kherson will be much more difficult. |
Ukraine seems to be able to handle difficult. |
I like the fact that 40k Russian troops are close to being fully cut off in the south and the eastern offensive certainly can't have helped with Russian supplies, reinforcements, or morale. If it's a war of attrition, I like Ukraine's chances on its own ground and the steady supply of Western support. Putin played his last card (aside from nuclear shenanigans) by cutting off natural gas to Germany. If Europe can bridge the gap over the next year or two, there ain't going back to Russian oil and gas. And those sanctions are going to begin to really bite. |
Not only are those Russian troops being cut off from their supply lines in the east, a lot of them have been trapped between the Dnieper River and the Ukrainian army after the Ukrainians blew up the bridges they'd need to use to retreat. Rumors are circulating that some of those trapped Russian units have begun negotiating their surrender. |
| The end? Russia leaves. Pays billions to Ukraine. Putin has to leave power. They may have to give up nukes but. They can still salvage that for a short window after regime change. Otherwise us sanctions don’t come off. Russia is done as even a second tier power. They will be more like Turkey or Greece. |

I think the end game will depend on whether Ukraine gets the Donbas region back. If Europe has a reliable ally that also can supply it with oil and gas, then Russia gets relegated to a vassal state of China (if it's not already). It loses all of its leverage with Europe. While reparations would be great, I don't see that ever happening outside of western countries using the assets seized in connection with sanctions to rebuild Ukraine. I could see a large de-militarized zone separating it from Russia like North and South Korea and an uneasy truce settling in with occasional flare ups. Of course, all bets are off if Trump wins in 2024. |
