Private School Lacrosse Thread

Anyone here have a son who went on to play college lacrosse at one of the service academies? Is the recruitment process the same as everyone else (seen at tournaments and showcases)?

Our son was recruited by two of the service academies but chose another school. Process was the same; they saw him at summer tournaments and reached out to his coach. Good luck!

It doesn't hurt to go to the SA summer lacrosse camps -- if the kids truly is a standout it's a way to possibly be seen and to demonstrate interest.

If your son is looking to play at a SA, talk to the other families in your son’s travel program that have gone through the process. I’m sure they will be a wealth of information. Also, I believe that the SA are able to reach out to players July 1st after their 10th grade season. I’d check that but have heard it a few places.

Landon sent 4 players to Navy last year. I heard 2 have left Navy: 1 went to MD and another went to Penn State.

What's your goal? To make a club team? Check with the team you are aiming for. They all have summer programs. Is your goal more modest, just to get proficient? Check out Headfirst. To get on the recruitment track? Hire a private coach. Check with any private school. Any coach will be happy to charge you 100 per hour, and if on a budget, one of the varsity guys will no doubt do it for half of hat.

Big news on the girls front last night - Chris Robinson is out at McDonogh.

McDonogh School announced last night the sudden departure of Chris Robinson, the girls' lacrosse coach responsible for a 177-game winning streak and nine championship titles.

The school did not give a reason for his exit.

Inside Lacrosse reports that the families of the No. 1-ranked team were sent an email from McDonogh co-athletic directors Mickey Deegan and Matt MacMullan notifying them of Robinson's departure.

He is also the owner of the M&D Lacrosse club, one of the best in the Washington-Baltimore area and one many Washington girls make a trek up north to Baltimore to play for. Interesting to see how this will shake up the local club and highschool lax scene for girls.

He has had a sports business - Robinson Sports - for a long time. He puts on camps and tournaments through it and runs the local girls spring league.

He was a teacher in the middle school and the varsity lax coach.

There is absolutely no way he resigned on his own. Its mid school year and lax season is just about to start. Clearly he was forced to resign. I doubt we will ever know why but clearly something going on at the school was not good.
