5-10 years in many cases

Is that for ES, MS, or HS?

Lots of turnover among HS principals lately. Beth Thomas has been at QO for six years, and she's currently the longest-tenured.

We are at QO and love Beth Thomas, although the kids are not too happy about changes she made to Red Army Generals / limitations…definitely has changed the vibe a bit during football games. The over the top student section was a huge selling point of the school, academics have been very meh (but we knew that going in and have always supplemented academics at home when possible).

Picking a HS because of the student section is so odd to me.
My kid is at QO and we find the academics generally underwhelming. Mrs Thomas is a decent principal but places way too much focus on football and other sports. School is now overcrowded and many of these football players seem to come from other areas. Not sure how this is even allowed.

Gaithersburg just got a new principal. For the past six years it was Mr. Cary Dimmick and he was wonderful for the school and MCPS. Unfortunately he left for Virginia.

Teenager posting? Educated adults use their words better.

"Words better." LoL

She needs to move on. That school is a dumpster fire.

Yes, everyone knows QO has been allowing shady things to ensure that their football team stays on top. I can't believe MCPS continues allow it.

"Dumpster fire", yet still is one of the best non-W schools you can say much in terms of academics.

No evidence to support this assertion. Sports rules at QO, not academics.

Me too. We are new to the pyramid (2nd year) and I am not a parent who is at school a lot but I attend BTSN and my kid plays a sport and I have seen him about 5 times and talked with him once or twice. Emailed once over an issue. He is responsive and friendly and seems very present. I am impressed with the consistent newsletters and info he puts out as well. All in all really happy with him and the school.

Correct. Just look at the Maryland school report card compared to Northwest HS. Embarrassing!

I think the outgoing ( retired) Whitman Principal was there for more than a decade?

I have had DC go through Elementary, Middle and High Schools and we have not had much interactions with any principals. When and how do people get to know their Principals well?

Dodd was Whitman principal for six years. Now he's a director in central office.

Anyone know about the new Seneca Valley principal? I haven't heard much about him from either the parents or students after Marc Cohen retired during last school year. (I have a son who is a junior at SVHS right now.)
