| Yes. My sources tell me Landon is playing Gonzaga this season. |
| Landon has decided to drop lacrosse after this season out of respect of Coach Bordley. |
|
Gonzaga plays Bullis (Top 20 last year), Landon (#1 last year), Culver (top 5 team), St. Ignatius (Top 20 team), and BL for non-conference games along with scrimmages vs. Calvert Hall and St. Pauls. Feels like a pretty strong schedule. |
|
you forgot to mention Bishop Ireton, O'Connell and the Heights and some weak teams from Florida!
The last time I checked, scrimmages don't count as games either. |
| boooooring. |
| St Andrews in Potomac is reportedly trying to build up their lax program. What's the scouting report? |
| They had a pretty good team last year... |
| An earlier post says there is a new there a new coach at STA? As far as I know, it's the same varsity coach from last year? or is the new coach a jv coach? I looked online but didn't see any information except about last season. thanks |
Same as last year. |
To PP and others who know ST Albans lacrosse...My son is a devoted and strong lacrosse player. We are looking at Landon, Prep, ST Albans and Gonzaga. My son's club coach said that we should consider the fact that ST Albans is not a lacrosse powerhouse to be a positive. In other words, my son would have a much better chance at making varsity as a freshman and start as early as sophomore year. He says that the club will be the center of college recruitment anyway, and the recruitment timeline has been moved back, so getting in with STA, making varsity earlier, getting substantial amount of playing time earlier, and starting earlier are things that are more important than playing for the winner of the conference. What do you think of the coach's advice? Historically, do freshmen make STA varsity lacrosse? Obviously academics are important, but lacrosse can tip the scales as we've been impressed by each of these schools and think our son could do well at any one academically and socially. |
| Also, how do kids at schools like STA play other sports until 6:30 in fall & spring and still do club lacrosse year round? Are the practices late at night? I think certain schools allow kids doing year around sports to waive out of other sports, but STA does not. |

St Andrew's has made a strong effort to improve and has an excellent academic program. (also POTUS has his young son at St Andrew's) I would say St Andrew's lacrosse is almost to the level of St Alban's but each program seems to be trending in opposite directions. St Andrews up St Alban's down. St Albans academic program is second to none.
As for the coach that believes club is the way to recruitment to college, I'll say this: the players you practice with and play with for 4 years on a top tier high school program will better prepare you for the top tier DI programs. So if you want to play with the best in college it is very helpful to play and practice with the best in high school. Club lacrosse has very talented players, it is akin to pick up or summer league basketball. (very competitive but not very structured.. Nothing like a regular season game. |
Hard to believe that any club would supplant Landon and Prep and even Gonzaga as the source for information about the players for college coaches. |
HS Club lacrosse doesn't play in the spring. Mom. Youth club practices once a week. Man, you have a lot to learn. |
